What did you do with your 4runner today?

Added the color matched grille...looks much cleaner. I ended up "cheaping" out and buying one of the off-brands from RockAuto. I could tell when I got it that the quality was questionable but it doesn't look too bad. The color seems to be a bit more matte, plastic than I expected (could be due to the off-brand vs. OEM).

Ordered the 3" leveling kit from Low Range Offroad. Came with diff, skid and bump stop spacers too.

...and took my rack off. It needed to be cleaned anyway but I may keep it off for now. I kind of like the looks...makes it look wider for some reason. I noticed quite a bit less wind at highway speeds as well. Also, ordered a set of LR UCAs from Headstrong Offroad! Great Price (best i've seen actually)...PM for details!

modded my control box on the winch, just waiting on the front bumper!

Changed diff fluid, transfer case fluid, sawzalled the turkey pans off (skid plates) . Installed new magnaflow ss quietflow muffler.

Turns out my aftermarket warranty covers the bearings! Just a bummer cause I wanted to take a road trip and ride up hahns peak trail up here in steamboat. Probably not going to happen till I get it fixed.

Flushed my power steering fluid and changed out all the diff and transfer case fluids for the second time since 20k. Next week I'll flush the brake fluid.
All done around 63k.

rust prevention

I took off my rear bumper cover and scraped the rusty stuff off , primed and painted. Its one of those spots you never get anything other than salt into. Then I wirebrushed all the welds on the frame, hit them with rust converter and sprated the whole underside with a coat of flat black rustoleum. Ready for the winter.

Not as labor intensive as absolute. Painted the silver in the center of both bumpers and the grill as well.

put on some energy suspension sway bar links in the back and put some clamps on my leaky CV's. Hopefully that holds them off till I get new ones or re-boot.

First project for this noob.....check! Changed out the blown JBL sub in my 03 LTD. Best thing about it is it didn't cost me anything but time. I had an Infinity BassLink from an old install sitting in garage. I was researching the JL swap but after my 8 y/o said, " can't you fix that cracking noise?" I figured why wait......and man am I glad I did. Sounds amazing! Ran 8G amp kit to the back, grounded to RT Rear passenger seat belt anchor, bass controller mounted to center console near driver seat heater switch and used the line level attachments directly to the sub wires.
Many thanks to the 4th Gen guys who posted threads about wiring and amps etc, couldn't have done it without you!

Next on the list is fixing the spring in the AT shifter and then changing out burned out LEDs in HVAC fan speed controller and gear indicator in the center console.

Day under the hood followed by gr8 tunes, sushi and UFC PPV.....must be living right!
