I got new wipers and installed them. Later today I have to change out the alternator on my rav4, not looking forward to it.

Decided to black out the center caps. I know...for a guy wanting to avoid being murdered out im getting pretty darn close. Ha. I just couldn't stand the red lettering and big level 8 logo. Time will tell if I decide to yank the caps again.

I replaced my front rotors with Powerslot Cryo slotted rotors, and replaced the pads with EBC Greenstuff pads. It was an absolute bear to replace the rotors- they were rusted on so bad that we hammered on the rotor for an hour, used countless sprays of WD-40, then PB'laster, More hammering on the rotor, only to have it fall off daintily. The second rotor went much smoother after we learned to just PB'laster the thing, then give it Thor-like strikes with a mallet. I mean really whalin' on it.
First rotor and brake pads- 2 hours to do, which may include some time for the run to the autostore for PB'laster.
Second rotor and brake pads- 30 min, TOPS, including reinstall and torque of the wheel, and clean up of the garage.


Bedtime at 1230a, awake for duckhunting at 330a. Brutal, but the brakes are AWESOME. I love doing my mechanic work myself- I know it's done right.

Got my new emblem in, added a yellow top, polished the lights with toothpaste, and "modded" my front cup holders...

1958 FJ40 Toyota Emblem

Added a small lining of this around the top edge of the cup holders to make them fit tighter and prevent my metal coffee cup from rattling every morning! Works good for $2.50 at Home Depot!

Had some spare time and heard this worked so I gave it a shot and had decent results. Probably gets better the more time you spend. I polished each side for 2-3 minutes each.

BudBuilt skid

Installed gas tank skid which would sound to be a pretty straight forward job... Couple of bolts sheared, drilled, tapped... the usual sh!t that seems to happen every time I get into a project on this thing.

Not much of a sticker-type so I thought I would give 'em all equal time on the underside:

Well I didn't do anything yet but I bought the metal tech long travel suspension today

Went slightly off the beaten path for the last time in my original H/T tires and then bought my first set of tires since purchasing the vehicle and went with some 265/70/17 BF Goodrich A/T and then tested her out this weekend hunting. It was a successful weekend.

Formulated an evil scheme to put a taller gear for 5th gear (suggested/inspired by CookieRoe) to increase MPGs when I have my trans rebuilt in the spring. I think she'll hold through the winter if I'm careful!

Got it aligned, and installed..... 4 new tires, new calipers, pads, rotors, master cylinder, rear shocks, and front struts.

Thanks for the cred! I'm not sure if it can be done. If so, awesome! Maybe someone who is very familiar with transmitions can chime in and see if its feasible. Alex was thinking of lower gears for the first couple of gears and I suggested having a very tall 5th gear for fuel economy.

This is random but I parked next to this guy last week, I had a brush guard, he didn't.

I get to school today, he has a brush guard, I don't.
