I just keep it in 1st gear 4lo. DAC locks my wheels up and I don't like that

Yeah, I'm sure it greatly depends on the terrain you're descending too. I would feel more comfortable using it on something like this as opposed to rocks.

Looking at how easily your Runner cleared the hill really makes me wanna just lift mine. My skid plate keeps hitting things keeping me from climbing.
Would the daystar 2.5/1.5 kit help or should I just buy springs and shocks?

I'd recommend springs and shocks. Less stress on your components

A stock one tried that same hill. The first time he got caught on the gas tank. the second try he made it but had to get some speed to do it. Made a pretty clean imprint of the gas tank skid in the sand.
If you can afford a new suspension, I would definitely go that route. Daystar gets you the clearance but doesn't improve suspension travel at all, nor does it improve the ride quality. If you're happy with how your stock suspension rides, then the Daystar could be a good option. But if you have a lot of miles and your suspension is starting to get worn out, go for the new suspension. I would do new suspension anyway since chances are, you will eventually. Then you only spend the money once.

I think my shock(s) are leaking anyhow so an upgrade wouldn't hurt... I will have to look into these Bilsteins I keep seeing everyone rave over.

Yeah exactly! I can feel something starting to give anyhow. My Runner is starting to dance a bit on the road and bumps are causing whatever is in the back to fly up a little bit. lol

On a side note, do you think they're ver going to come up with a wind filter for video cameras? It seems like anytime I watch an outdoor video, the wind noise is absolutely horrible.

I know, sorry about that. It was recorded on a little Nikon Coolpix point and shoot. Not sure if there's anything I could get for it. I'll have to look for the little microphone on it.

Did my first repair on my '03.
I bought it on Saturday, drove it home from Harrisburg (just over an hour) with one screw holding the paper temp tag, flapping in the wind. Somebody put a 10mm self tapping screw in one of the plate mounting holes (the kind you would use to drill a front bumper without a bracket, and should never use on the rear of most vehicles.) They must have torqued it until it snapped off.
Today I drilled that screw out, and the tip fell into the interior of the tailgate. I took the interior panel off, which was REALLY easy since I'm used to working on German cars.
That's when I discovered why there had been a small rattle inside the tailgate during open/close. Along with the tip of the one I had drilled out, there were two other screw ends that had been rolling around in there for who knows how long. :crazy:
Thankfully the threads are still okay. I really didn't want to have to rethread it. Two fresh 10mm machine screws are holding nice and tight! Good as new:
The hood is open because I also replaced the front parking light bulb in the headlight. Of course it was the driver's side, so it was a PITA to get out because of the battery, even using a screwdriver. My stubby VW/Audi reversible screwdriver (pictured) did the trick. I keep one in every vehicle.
Also added the rubber plug to the hitch receiver. I don't currently have a ball for it yet, so I figured I would put my GSD's name there: Reese.

Better than driving to work at Wendy's haha. I make time and a half what I make at Wendy's and I have much more fun. I like this!
