What did you do with your 4runner today?

PB Blasted all my diff plugs. Plan on doing that this weekend, before Colorado trip next week. Any tips or quips I should know before tackling this (daunting) task?!? First vehicle I am actually doing most of my own maintenance on.....

Super easy job with all the right tools.
Always always take the fill plug out before the drain plug. And pick up new gaskets/crush washers. Less than $10 for all at the dealer.

Yep, get a decent pump for the lube. $29 atleast, when the cheap ones break, it's when the diff or trans is only 1 quart full..

Got them quick too. I believe he makes them to order. I ordered them I think Tuesday, he made them, shipped them Wednesday and I got them today. Not to bad coming from Washington state... USPS did something right for once!

Had a seized drivers side caliper again and I went to autozone to get a warranty replacement. Finally finished my brakes!

Ordered 2 new tie rod inners so I can replace them and get an alignment sometime between now and Thursday. Fingers crossed

It's 100+ in the sun.

Doing rotors and pads on my truck for the 5th time in 3 years. Freakin ridiculous! I decided this time around I'm going with generic autozone pads and rotors. I spent $400+ on EBC pads and rotors, only to have them destroyed. I like the $167 option better

I'm gonna lose like 5 lbs in water weight. Emelianenkov's word of the day: Heatstroke

I have used Atozone pads a rotors for year and I like the fact I can take the pads back and get new ones Lifetime Warranty on pads and three years on rotors so I always replace the rotor about every three pad changes.

Finally found a place to detail my truck (clay bar and wax). Next time I will splurge for the complete detail...just wanted to try them out first. I will try and take some pics tomorrow before it starts raining.

Picked up an '04 SR5 4WD that will be mine and my daughter will take over my '02 3rd gen.

I started the cleaning process by gutting her and pulling the carpet.

Disassembled the console and cleaned.

Tomorrow will be sound dead floor, brake pads/rotors, spark plugs and maybe clean carpet.

Drove the 4runner to the marina so I could burn thru $390 in fuel in the boat and bring home a bunch of grouper. On the way back I ran into an oil pressure issue on the Mercury. Guess I will be doing some marine motor work this week. :yell:

FINALLY! Got my truck lifted. Only 3 small hang ups. The first being a rusted and seized end link in the front. The second being 1 of the 4 eccentric cam sleeves was seized up , and the last being , my already poor passenger side CV finally blew itself up all the way after 148k miles. I think the day turned out as a success , currently running no front sway though.


I'll post more pictures when I get back to my computer. :rockon:

Thanks man! My Jeep buddy and I started at 9:30 today and finished everything around 4:15. With 3 or 4 breaks (it was really hot and humid out) and the few hang ups I had. I'm not complaining, it may have take time, but I can say I did it, and that some self satisfaction. And I learned some stuff along the way, so no complaints.

Hmm, interesting, definitely thinking about this awesome 25+ hp mod , haha.
