Got hit on the way home from work.. Amazingly no body damage what so ever. Just effed my wheel and maybe just alignment... Hope the axle and frame are ok, but who knows. I just hope no hidden damage that pops up later... But I got hit pretty hard despite how good the 4runner still looks...
Was enough to knock things around in the car, spill my water on the floor and jar open compartment in the back passenger side.
Drove it home about 10 miles or so with the VSC/etc lights on and not tracking straight... I know would have been better to get a tow - but it's been a long day and I'm traveling for work tomorrow. And frankly there were two shady a** tow trucks/dudes that were there making me VERY uncomfortable and I wanted out of there. I mean these dudes were fighting like the Repo dudes you see on tv. And were saying that my mechanic needed to be there to pay for it in order to drop it off and insurance would reimburse him... They said they could keep it over night (bla bla) so I just got the f*** outta there!
I was turning left onto a road, and the guy that hit me was turning left (from) the road I was turning onto. He hit me with his front left bumper. It's almost like he didn't see my turn signal and was gunning it to try to turn before the cars came from the other direction.
Anyway - it sucks and now is in the hands of my trusted mechanic, and the insurance companies and the police report.
Got her back today - all fixed up and my parts transferred to a new axle housing. Here's the old one... She drives like nothing happened.
It's oddly difficult to ether bend on the left side there on the pics. But it's very obvious in person. My wife even spotted it right away.
Mechanic said my Mobil1 gear oil I had thrown in there about 30k miles ago looked good as new when he yanked it all apart.
