What did you do with your 4runner today?

with coilovers now ive often debated removing mine. I have removed it on my last two vehicles and its improved ride quality on each one.

Found a pile of gravel.

Climbed said pile of gravel.

You know you've got some flex when: you can stuff stock 265/65/17's

I really LOVE the front sway bar delete so far! The IFS can actually function as it's supposed to... Independently!

I want to find something more solid than a pile of gravel to climb to demonstrate the benefits of the sway bar delete, but I have too much to do and no time to do it.

Do you notice a little thumping when you climb? I just tested my little lift the other day, idk if it was traction or something binding but I felt a little thumping when I started to flex a little more.

ARK_SWAMP_RIDER I envy your fall... being in the Sonora desert we don't get a "fall" :( stunning photograps!!!

in the sonoran desert, no, in arizona yes.. you just gotta get to the right spots.. i remember this issue of arizona highways , it showed photographs of how arizona has the landscapes of every place in the world.

Oh Arizona has some absolutely beautiful spots... I just hate having to travel to see it! (Someday I will move out of this place)

I've flexed my truck every which way. Never noticed thumping except when my tires are contacting my fenders or my rear bumper.

Have someone check out your truck when you flex. It might be your fender liner.

Just replaced the bulbs in the control and air duct in the center console. Wow, that was incredibly easy. Glad I did it myself.

Drove home over the weekend, and my father informed me that he plans on buying and installing a lift in our shop. :reddance:

Ordered a set of Desert Products/DownSouth Motorsports stainless Uni-ball Upper Control Arms. The guys at DSM are awesome to deal with. Within 30 min of my order I haspd UPS tracking info.

Just curious why did you go with Uni's over SPC? Long travel in your future?

Sick! You make me anxious to disconnect my front sway

I know I'm definitely going SPC because of the ball joint. It's got a rubber boot around it. Perfect protection from the New England weather and road conditions.

This, as long as you check to make sure it hasn't torn or leaked, it will last a long time.

I am also a big fan of the sway bar delete, improved my ride quality dramatically, barely feel bumps in the road anymore.

I was hesitant for the longest time, but now I see how much better it works. Before the delete I could maybe get half of the way up than I did yesterday. On road performance is better, except for a bit of body roll, and you hardly notice big bumps anymore. When hitting a bump, the wheel takes the shock independently, instead of influencing the other wheel to react to the bump as well.

I need new ball joints badly. Trying to save my pennies for the spc. I need em.

X2. I didn't know comfort before I removed the sway bar

After talking to Mike and hearing your thoughts, definitely next mod to try on my list!

Best part of this mod (if you don't live in New England at least) it's SUPER EASY to remove the bolts (wasn't for me due to rust) and you can reverse it whenever you want to if you feel that a true independent front suspension is too much for you

Couple reasons. From talking with Fox, AllPro and DownSouth Motorsports this will give me about 1" more drop/Travel. My shocks are currently at Fox getting tweaked. :whoo:

I looked at Camberg, Total Chaos and Desert Product. Camberg has a mix of bearing quality being used. TC uses the SS bearings which is good. Desert Products uses SS bearings which is good, but I liked the box construction of the Desert Products versus the tube design. I just like the box construction better (personal opinion).

Having used SPC products over the years there was NO way I would even entertain installing them on my truck. If someone gave me a free set, I would have sold them to buy so so something else.

If I wanted to use a oem style balljoint I would have used the a Total Chaos designed to be pressed in with an OEM or Moog balljoint. The TC arms are $379 and Moog or Napa grease able BJ's can be had for under $80. So for $450~ you get Rubber boots, and caster correction.

This truck won't see salt or Magnesium/Chloride so the corrosion issue is not an concern if mine. But paying attention to the bearing being used alleviates much if the concern. Some of these companies stil spec chromoly bearings or cups. Chromoly bearings + salt is a bad recipe.

Fair. Why the bad blood with SPC?
JFYI supposedly you get more travel with the SPC BJ than OEM,

I will not get into all the details. But I had more than one of their adjustable control arms fail on my other vehicle. Needless to say I almost put my other vehicle into the wall at the track. The failure of the arm(s) cost me a ton of $$ in repairs. The manufacture provided me a replacement (no sorry or comp for the other repairs due to their part failure). One of the others (not the replacement) failed the following season.

I am not risking my family on that brands products. Overall failure rate might be low, but not worth the cost savings to me.
