Was that motor easy to take out? Mine is pretty annoying, I was curious how to get rid of the noise, thanks! Any guidance is appreciated!
I was really easy three screws hold it up under the dash.
under the glove box there is a cover that protects all the stuff under the dash held on by one phillips head screw, loosen that and pop the cover down there is three snap clips at the top then let it hang on the floor
you will see the blower box and the blower motor hanging out the bottom
loosen the three screws (flat head, torx bit, or 8mm socket works best)
unclip the wire harness from the motor (push tab and pull type)
motor drops out!
the fan part is plastic and is pressed on the shaft of the motor. take the shaft clip off with pliers, pry the little tab back and put a large flat screw driver under the fan gently prying up evenly on all sides of the fan.
until there is a gap for your fingers then have a second set of hands slowly pull the fan off while you hold the motor base.
I couldnt remove the motor fully from the plastic base but i removed the 2 screws from the back of the base and sprayed electric motor cleaner through it all. and used a dropper to oil the bearing. Top bearing is cover by a metal cap that just prys off the top of the motor.
remove the brass clips and springs pull the brushes out and inspect to see if there is some even left. my brushes has very sharp vertical edges worn into them that were catching on the shaft making the ticking noise, i just ever so slighty rounded them so the wouldnt catch on the shaft and tick
not sure if they can be replaced. I had about half left.
