What did you do with your 4runner today?

Last night I pulled three people out, drove four people to either their homes or somewhere safe. In the process there was a lot of driving that would rival some GTA game play. The 4runner performed better than I could of ever imagined. I passed hundreds of cars stuck or that just couldn't make it up or down steep hills. The tires and system the truck has made it a cake walk. All it takes is a little knowledge and creativity. Glad I was able to make a difference with all the chaos in Atlanta right now.

Finally got warranty approval to start the repairs on the 4Runner. They even went as far as to try to make the dealership use aftermarket parts to save money. Thankfully Joe Myers negotiated with them, Im getting all genuine Toyota parts.

They are replacing pretty much every seal and gasket on the motor, and Im getting an entire new rear end (differential, axle housing, everything)

Hopefully Ill have her back Friday.

I agree. If the 5-0 (or anyone else for that matter) has problems reading my plate, I'm OK with that. No need to make it easier for them.

Incidentally, 0 tickets in the 4Runner. Either I'm getting older or smarter.

It's all good, just needed a new rotor and studs. I didn't post much on here to avoid looking like the new blk-4runner. Still not sure how the tire fell off. Its weird because the spacer came off with it. it ripped off one of the studs on the hub and bent all the other ones. never seen anything like it.

Glad to hear it's all put back together and running though and the damage wasn't too bad. That is weird, horror stories always make nervous about my spidies. Any vibes or anything weird or was it totally sudden?

It was totally sudden. I hit a rumble strip and boom it happened. I'm thinking my hubs/studs are the reason why because the spidertrax were still attached to my wheel

Holy crap man, scary! Glad the damage was minimal (hope so anyway). A guy posted about this happening a while ago. When he posted pics, it appeared that he installed that first set of lug nuts backwards. Could be your culprit.

Were you using extended tip lug nuts to hold the spidertrax to the hub?

I ask as AllPro mentioned that to me and required the use of longer nuts on the front to insure plenty of holding power/support on the hub studs.

We've bought a few Toyotas from Joe Myers over the years. They were always a pleasure to deal with!

Glad you got your repair covered with OEM parts :thumb: but like I said in the other thread, it's pretty standard that aftermarket warranty companies will use aftermarket / re-manufactured parts so you shouldn't be surprised. Check out your auto policy, it'll say the same thing. They have the right to use aftermarket / re-manufactured parts. Key word is "right to". Often times insurance companies will use factory parts but not always.

The only time you will get factory parts is if your warranty specifically says so or if you have a factory warranty. That's why you should always read the fine print before you purchase one so you know exactly what is and what is not covered. You may be surprised on what you find out.

Yea I realized that haha. It really does a good job of aiding that backup camera though. Kit was recommended by gaterose I believe, got it off Amazon.

I've removed it on my last two trucks when lifted. I did it because i have coilovers in the front to be the height im at. So those are strong enough to not have it body roll like a tanker ship in the Pacific. Stock i wouldnt remove it as the stock suspension is less than desired sway.

I did it to soften up the ride a bit as my end links were at a weird angle and i wondered if it was limiting my ride quality a bit. In a sense it allows IFS to be IFS.

After 3 days of struggles, I finally got the rear view camera installed! After trying to figure out why the RCA wouldn't work, turns out that the actual port on the head unit was faulty! Crutchfield is express shipping me a new one (Awesome customer service, that site) so hopefully it'll be a quick swap!
