is it run straight from the battery? tap into a 12v accessory that is switched ignition
Yes, the lights are powered straight to the battery. Is there any easy or recommended wire to tap instead of to the battery post?
I could just leave it also I suppose. I imagine it would take a LONG time (months) to drain the battery if i leave it hooked up.

Worked on my raptor style grill today. Just need to let the epoxy curate and get it mounted.
The finished product with the grill mounted!

i had a switch wired straight to the battery and though the same thing, and its true, but it drove me crazy so i switched it. i eventually tapped into one of the 12v wires running into the center console

So after our 3000 mile 2 week trip. The truck sat for about week. Went out the following friday to drive her into work. And the truck just clicked but wouldnt turn over. It was a sad day. The original decade old panasonic battery FINALLY had a bad cell and wouldn't start. So after going to advanced and confirming this horribleness, I opted for their gold battery with 710 CCA and 3 year warranty. With discount I got it all for $96. Once I got her started I finally got to moving her around and giving her a new look. So got my wheels taken care of. Love the new look! And then I finished sticker bombing the back windows with all the stickers from our most recent roadtrip.

I have an aftermarket switch similar to this that uses two leds, one for back lighting that comes on when the vehicle lights are on, and the other for the switch. I'm not sure if you have the switch wired in the hot side or the ground side, but try reversing the two wires for the switch and see what happens. If your switch uses an led then it will probably make a difference which way you wire it.

This is exactly why my Tacoma is getting sold for a commuter within the next few months as I add on to the 4runner. I'm getting 16.5-17mpg because my commute is mixed with mostly stop/go and I have a feeling once I put the lift and tires on, I'm going to drop to 14ish.

Had a buddy all lined up to give me a hand on Saturday putting my new painted front bumper and flush mount LED light bar in the grille, and then this happened Friday night.
Shuttle bus ran over a steel pole which pulled the throttle cable to wide open.
Driver lost control and came barreling at me head on at full acceleration. All I could do to avoid being killed or seriously hurt was swerve out of the way. Fortunately I didn't get hurt or killed, but he caught the back corner of my truck.
Sucks, but I'm glad that I wasn't hit head on, or it would have been REALLY bad. He couldn't stop the vehicle and barreled through me, and almost plowed into a cement wall, which I very well could have been pushed into. He went on 3 wheels and did a 180 deg turn to avoid the wall, and then threw it in park and pulled the key while the engine was redlining. Happy to be alive and unhurt. Getting estimate at the body shop tonight right after work. :yo:

Put a trailer on it and drive 90 miles one way for 3 weeks straight...Cost me over $50 a day. Ugh
