I used a clay bar to cleaned up the paint, washed and waxed my truck today.

He went ahead and chose the OMEs with Bilsteins..

Swapped my rotors calipers and pads to 5th gen parts.

I was tired of pulsating brakes and we're about to go on a 2000 mile road trip through mountains so I wanted to get it taken care of. All that was needed was to trim the front dust shields and crack a bunch of rusty bolts. The rest was bolt on and would have gone quickly without all the rust.

Long day of wrenching. 7 hours total.

Wash day (yesterday)!

After a bunch of trails it was time to clean up. After getting all the dirt and mud off I can see how badly my front skid has been destroyed. Time to start saving for a new set of skids...

Mine were tough too when I did them.. The hardest part was the brake lines. Channel locks had the ultimate say in them coming out. Of course, I have to get new lines now lol.

Yeah we stripped a few bolts and fittings in the process. It was very frustrating so I ensured to give everything a little bit of anti seize. We stripped a brake line bracket bolt and some hard line fittings. Those were the only 2 that we needed to replace. A new bolt (slathered in anti seize) and a new hard line with fittings got us back on track.

This job would have never been possible without heavy duty vise grips, a breaker bar, pb blaster, impact wrench, and my dremel.

I'm still convinced that if this weren't a midwest truck, this job might have taken 3-4 hours max. Also, if I ever buy a house with a garage I'm installing a lift. I'm tired of jackstands.

Had the oil changed, rotated the tires, passed the state inspection, removed the running boards, and removed the HCF of my newly purchased 2003 SR5 4WD. Bought from the original owner, my father-in-law. It has 251K dealer-serviced miles and runs great. Only issue I've noticed so far is the shifter if floppy (i.e. won't stay in 3, flops back to D).

My wife and I went camping over the weekend. Tried out our new Explorer 2 SUV tent. Allows you to sleep with the hatch open for ventilation, but provides cover for bad weather and keeps the bugs out. Definitely recommend as a cheap option for sleeping in the back of the Runner!

Whole new front end...

Had a busy weekend with the truck, I finally got around to installing the new front bumper, LED bar and retrofit headlights. Things went pretty smooth, with only a few hang ups here and there. First, here's a before. You can see the white crack/lines on the bumper, there was some other damage that's not real visible in the pics. A couple backed into me at the parking garage that I used to park at.

I got a custom set of brackets made for the LED bar from a member on here, first I had to prime and paint them with high temp engine primer and semi-gloss black.

So I had a set of headlights with black housings all retrofitted and ready to go, however there were a couple broken clips and mounts on those headlights, so I decided to bake my stock headlights and use the housings that had all the clips intact, so I spent about 2 hrs baking headlights, and swapping the projectors, reflectors, backings, etc around.

I didn't plan or intend to redo the headlights again, but it was totally worth it, and now I won't have to do it again later. The projectors are d2s bi-xenon with high beam flap, I also have a splitter and installed brand new Silverstar Ultra 9005 bulbs in the high beams, and Voila!

Next comes the custom brackets made by MojaveMadMan, these are the Style B brackets

Boom! These brackets are designed to let the bumper sit flush inside of the bumper grille area.

Getting excited now!

And next, the brand new painted bumper from my friend who manages a body shop.

And, wired up with a switch, this thing is SO damn bright!

Oh yeah!

I'm really happy with the way that everything came together, and I'm loving the new look of the front end of my truck!

I'll try to get a few in the next few days. I didn't cut much off the mount, but it only rubs on full lock. had to cut some of the bumper and plastic in front of the body mount too but nothing major.
