Took the 4Runner in for its 90k service. Opted out for the filters and plugs as I just ordered an aFe intake and changed the plugs afterwards when I got home. Funny thing when you do your own service, you don't want others touching your sh*t... Found the passenger side had Denso plugs where the driver side had NGK's. Needless to say all were replaced and the same plugs, It now runs more smooth with throttle response and acceleration. And now the waiting game for the inake lol

That was standard protocol from the factory. They were built in two different factories is my understanding and then brought together to build the block in its entirety.(i THink)
But it was common for the 4runners to have different plugs on each side.

Interesting, never heard that. I hope that was the case with them.
It was odd to me as to why it was like that, also my brother works at Toyota as a service tech and he even gave me a WTF!?!

Same thing on the 4.0 in the Tacoma. 99% of the time they have ngk on one side and denso on the other. Mine did. Need to do the plugs on the 4runner this weekend if I get a chance, I wouldn't be surprised to find the originals still in it.

Since we got a little bit of rain here in SoCal today I decided to hit the trails after work. Those of you who know the road to the Holy Jim hiking trail know about the old truck half way down the mountain you can see from the road. Well on my drive down the road I saw a white SUV touch it and I was vary curious what it was doing down there. Once I got to the road to go up that way I saw a tow wrecker at the bottom. Upon closer examination it was a 5th gen 4Runner that drove off the mountain. By the time I got there they had it about half way out and I was able to take these pictures in between doing what I could to help.
It was a mix between and wench on a 2000 Jeep Grand Cherokee and a tow strap hooked up to an 80's Chevy blazer.

The only issue I've noticed are the load bars set screws, they need to be really tight. I check them after every trip. Other then that it handles the weight well, low profile, saves a bunch of coin and you can attach the awning to it as well.

After just having moved to seattle, I've been here about a month and my buddy and I planned to go hiking today. My knee was pretty painful after a long bike ride and hockey game the day prior. We ended up cruising around on forest service roads around Snoqualamie Pass instead. It felt good to get the truck out in the mountains. 4wd was used, flexed it about as much as a stock 4runner can. Never bottomed out, never got stuck but got some solid trail pinstripes which will buff out and found some great campsites for the future.
Wow, that's nuts! Where exactly up Trabuco Canyon was that taken? Was it off the main road or was it up off "Cadillac" (as the mountain bikers call it)?

I go up there at least twice a year, but I've never been wheeling up there. I hope to go soon, so I'll take some recommendations!!:becky:
