What did you do with your 4runner today?

I put a new bolt in each side. I haven't replaced the clamp yet. Ill probably go see what my local autoparts store has. Maybe a big hose clamp...

Yea even if you send it in for rebuild you'll have to pay for replacement parts outside of the orings and teflon rings. There's an excellent thread in the 5th gen section on DIY icon shock rebuild. There's also a video on YouTube.

I just discovered the Pinsu Racks. Definitely getting one. They look awesome.

Finally got to check one out last weekend on a 5th gen. They're very well built and I definitely want one .

Got washed and waxed. And sad to say I noticed two little spots of rust. I took some cutting polished and tried to clean them out and ordered some touch up paint to fill them in. Damn it! I hate rust.

Thought you guys might wanna see a 7in front lift(lifts spindle/ome 884/ 5100-lowest). It's too much lift and I'm gonna drop it tomo. Was expecting 2in and got over 3. I'll post more pics when I button everything up.

When I bought the 4runner, the previous owner warned me that there were some "stuck and broken bolts".

He wasn't kidding.

This was the very last one!

I've been drilling on this broken off skid plate bolt for years!

I got a cobalt drill bit stuck in there the first day I tried getting it out (my impatience cost me). Got some cheap left handed bits and would hit it for a half hour here, and an hour there.

When I got impatient again, I'd stop.

I finally drilled around the old cobalt bit (like 4 holes ), and used a tiny punch to push it out today. Once the bit was gone, the lefty drill bits worked like they should, and I finally beat this sucker!




The old threads were untouched. :becky:

Now to go research which stainless bolts to get, so I can put the skids back on!

I'm going back to fj springs on the first perch. I might just add a top spacer to make up for the bumper. The ome's ride nicer then the fj's though.

I'm running a 3 spacer, fj's and airbags.I had a 2 allpro with 1.5 daystar and it was too stiff before. This was all before they made 3 in springs. For shocks I'm trying a 5160 with an extension

Ome is known for random lift numbers and I don't have time for them to settle. i never took the perches off to adjust them. I wish you were right though.

My Xreas is now leaking and the 4runner floats around after hitting bumps. It's time for some Bilsteins 6112's in the front and 5100's in the rear. I'll post pics when its done.

I am running FJ fronts on the 0 setting with Metal Tech LT rear coils no spacers. I think the stance is perfect and ride is great.

A 3" rear spacer on FJ's... mmm. How is that setup by itself without airing up the bags? I like the 5160 ext idea. And who the heck makes a 3" rear spacer for our rigs? Didn't know that even existed..lol.
Have you thought about using a Tacoma TRD front coils they net 1.75" - 2" of lift by themselves and there a progressive spring instead of a linear spring like the FJ's.

saw my light pods were starting to fade as most cheap light bars do. took some fast wax i had and cleaned them and now they look a lot better. not perfect but its all one color, no more gray spots

I am gonna keep an eye out for the trd springs. Do you know what years are the progressive's? I just lifted my buddies 11 and it didn't have them. The spacer is from a company that's long gone. I just add about 20psi to make the fj's stiffer. I judge by he way my son bounces bag there. It's not bad and I'm just waiting on a deal on metal techs or icons. My bumper is just making me start all over again
