What did you do with your 4runner today?

Drain/fill the diffs and transfer case. Used Amsoil Severe Gear 75W90, I've used that for 25 yrs. The service records I have on this new-to-me showed it had been 40k miles since the last service.

I'll be loaded up and trailered up to the tune of 4500lbs, and offroading that load quite a bit in 4lo so peace of mind dictated the Amsoil for $110.

Anybody else hate the Allen keys on the front diff?

The piece I made is pretty nice. You can hardly feel the little bump. I tried laying in the back already and you can hardly notice it. Specially once a pad is under you too. The chance of me sleeping back there is pretty slim. We camp a lot, but just with our tent.

What's it made of, and how do you get the correct shape?

Registered at toyota.com with the VIN, pulled the dealer maintenance records, got the Original equipment/options list and the build date.

Build date 6/5/2007 (Tuesday, yay). Options: DRL, sunroof, rear spoiler, front and rear airbags, Valor exhaust tip, JBL Synthesis.

Sold on 9/8/2007. Since November 2011 all four door lock actuators were replaced by the dealer, the front passenger door lock twice, only 100k miles on it to me.

Door lock actuators are about $550 parts/labor at the dealer, and this is why I hate the automatic locking and unlocking "feature".

I'm registered there and have pulled my service records, but where did you find the OEM/options list & build date?

I had to get a supervisor by the name of Vincent C. to help me, he knew right away what I was asking for, the original person did not.

Cleaned up the interior a bit from the layer of dust I got on her yesterday, and changed out the spark plugs. Glad I did, they were pretty dang fouled up, and had 107k on them. This is the first car I've had that I actually enjoy working on.

Not so much today, but this week. Put 4,000 miles on it driving it from CO to NY and back (for a wedding). It did well, although it made me realize that in the future, I'll need something bigger if I do that again. With a dog and all our necessary items packed, we didn't have very comfortable sleeping arrangements. Ended up driving straight through both ways!

Got a few little project done this week. First time I've ever put a sticker on one of my cars. Charging outlets for the kids in the back seat and a new Sport roof rack with a 42" LED light bar!

Swapped out the Limited running boards for the SE tubes.
Looking a whole lot better.

If anyone needs a (slightly banged up) pair of stock running boards in the Bay Area, let me know. Else they'll get in the bin.
