What did you do with your 4runner today?

My 2006 v8 has 150k miles and I bought it with 140k. Couldn't find any history on the transmission fluid. Went to do a simple drain and fill since stealership wanted 350 to do a full flush today...and [emoji15] YIKES ITS DIRTY. Guess I will go ahead and take her in and let the dealership do it soon.

Been there, done that. Well, CO to PA four times. With the Lab along we got a rhythm going where me or the wife would keep an eye out on I70 for the old style motels, the ancient one story motels with a door that opens up into the parking lot so we can take a small bag in and the mutt out to do her business. One or two six hour stops along the way for a hot shower and a good rest makes that 36 hour trip much better. We found that simply exiting I70 into one of the smaller towns we could find a 1950's era motel that would take the dog.

I say do the full flush by the dealer for the peace of mind. I'll do the same since we'll be towing and I don't buy into the myth that WS is some kind of magical forever fluid. This one I just bought had a drain and fill with four quarts of WS, four quarts out of 18 quarts isn't all that impressive.

Going off topic here but I've had a similar experience. Riding adventure motorcycles it can be an expensive deal showing up the front counter dirty and tired asking how much a room is late at night. I could plan a trip all I wanted in advance booking way ahead, then got down to reserving motels night of on a hotel app on my phone but still ended up paying $80+ a night??!!? Finally I learned that the little mom and pop places probably can't afford to advertise. Just drop off the interstate and ask around at gas stations, etc. and get settled in for -$40 a night. The rooms aren't nice but the shower's hot(ish), the bed isn't the ground, and the price is right.

And back on topic to what I did to my 4runner today, I have her a break and rode the 990R to work for national ride to work day!

Got the Build Sheet for my 'Runner. If anyone wants theirs, choose the email option on this page and request it. Be sure to include your VIN. They sent it within a day.
 
Continued exploring some of the unposted trails I found. Here's a video of a tiny stream crossing. I also ended up finding this equipment farther in. Anyone know what this is?
