What did you do with your 4runner today?

Walked out of the Wal-Mart after what seemed like an eternity. I started walking towards my car and noticed the right rear passenger door looked like it got keyed..... Almost like someone tried to make an R and stopped. So I touch the scratch and think to myself.... What the hell? When did this happen? Who would do this? Why would anyone do this? WTF?!!!...

So I start walking to the rear hatch to load groceries and my remote doesn't work. I round the back of the car and see a sticker on the rear window and realize oh this isn't my car. My 4runner was 5 more spaces over in the same isle. I went from pissed off to histarically laughing in about 15 seconds from start to finish.

Years ago I gave my then-GF, who is really into animals, the "Trainer for a Day" package at Sea World for her birthday. One thing all the documentation stressed was not to be late. If you missed the start, you forfeited your money and it was too bad.

I'm big on being punctual (which is about respect when you think about it) so we went to breakfast with plenty of time. The place was packed and by the time our rookie server was done (slow as hell and forgot to send our order to the kitchen) and we got out of there, we were down to zero margin for any traffic delays, etc.

Ran out to the rental car, damn thing wouldn't unlock with the remote. I tried the key, no luck, I'm like "WTF? We don't have time for this!" Then I notice the back end of another car a ways down the row that's the same model and color. I click the remote, its lights flash, we run down there, get in and go. We made it but I never heard the end of that faux pas.

Did some more exploring with mt buddy who has a 3rd gen out at pole hill road near estes park

Called a million shops and haggled best I could for my motor I have to buy, found a 130k miles 3 month warranty for 650 plus 100$ core charge. They wanted 750$ used the charm and ability to generally be nice to people and it paid off. Going to get the new motor tomorow and hopefully put it in this weekend

live action!!

Well, I replaced all four rotors and pads and one frozen caliper. and during the bed in process I blew a ball joint with 170k miles on it. looks like my nights a shot if I intend on doing anything fun this weekend.

Got my analysis back from Blackstone. Wasn't a lot of miles but it sat quite a bit since march. Figured I'd get a baseline sample since the engine is getting up there in miles. First time sending any oil in to be analyzed. I'll be doing it on my WRX next.

Had to limp it to the dealership today. Thank god there is one 3 minutes away from my job. I knew my bearings were on the way out, and I have replacements from Bumper2Bumper Auto that I was going to install this weekend, but I must have hit a bump or something funny today cause they completely disintegrated on me. Couldn't make it over 5mph without the front passenger locking up a bit and wobbling like hell. Scared the shit out of me.

Probably just gonna have them replace the CVs since they are on the way out to. Buy once, cry once, but man that estimate tomorrow is gonna suck. I'm just glad I could get it to a shop without it breaking on me completely.

Sidenote: If anyone is interested in purchasing a set of preassembled berings/hubs from Bumper2Bumper Auto, I am willing to sell them (preferably local to CT, might consider shipping) at a discount since I hopefully won't need new ones for a LONG time.

Just put on some icon 2.5 resi's.. I should probably start a build thread one of these days.. :trophy:

Followed the example of 2blu4u and Plasti-Dipped my hitch. Also painted the standard Toyota plug with DupliColor Trim & Bumper and the logo/letters with Testors Dark Red.

Working on something else with the Plasti-Dip and am pretty curious about 1) what it's going to look like and 2) the opinions on here. Will post pics when it's done, which should be soon.

One guy, one girl. Two 4th gens, both 235K on the clocks. Two dirt bikes, two mtn bikes, 1900 miles, 6 states, 6 days. What 4Runner vacations are made of...
My girlfriend's dirtbike was in Georgia at a friends house (long story). Originally her bike was to be shipped to New York for a race. We planned on mtn biking (downhill with ski lifts) at snowshoe wv.
After too much un necessary stress, we decided to skip the race.
We headed for snowshoe in her 4Runner with mtn bikes. Mine was at home in Alabama. Had an awesome day and drove back to Knoxville. Planned a whitewater trip on the ocoee but were too late and tired to make it work. I said why don't we hang out and watch the kayaks and rafters. She typed in NOC and it was taking us north and back east. I had told her Nantahala was in NC. After the argument ensued, I said fine. It'll be cool to go a way I haven't been.
We're driving along and I see a sign for dragon Harley I'm like no way. Sure enough, 10 miles later we're on the 300+ curves of tail of the dragon. We stopped mid way and took some cool shots. Then we continued on and stopped for dinner at river's end on the nantahala.
We then headed back home by way of the ocoee. Loaded the mtn bikes in my 4Runner and hooked the trailer up with my dirtbike and went to Georgia to pick her bike up. We left my bike at our friends in Woodstock (where I spotted a sweet 4th gen) and headed to blankets creek for a mtn bike ride.
Side story:
We set the camera up on a guard rail to take a pic in front of the blankets creek sign. When we were posting it that night, we realized a bird dive bombed right in front of us towards the camera!
After some sweet mtn biking, we went and picked up the dirt bikes and headed to durhamtown for some dirt biking. We really should have went to highland park instead... We cut that short and came back home and went night dirt biking at our spot last night.
This morning went for a short mtn bike ride at Oak mtn, and have half a day to recover for work tomorrow.
That was our week of fun!
