What did you do with your 4runner today?

I programmed radio stations, took off dealer license plate frames and dealer sticker.
Just joined the cult/club last night. Purchased a 2008 SR5 V6 and 4WD. It has 69,000 miles on it. Purchased from a Toyota dealer for $17,000. It was one owner female and all service was done at the same dealer I bought from. Within the past year, the dealer service records show: New Toyota battery, new Bridgestone Dueler tires (will just have to deal with it), 4 new stock rims with the new tires, front and rear brakes, and rear differential oil changed. It's in crazy good shape. Looking forward to being addicted to this forum. I previously had a 2010 Tacoma that I owned until 2014, so I know the mod bug will bite hard.

The only other options out there going to be even more expensive. Toytec offers some CV axles but they are super expensive, can't remember exactly how much.



These are right along with OEM. They are actually OEM re-manufactured axles to help with higher articulation without binding.



So you get some more bang for your buck for just about the same price as if you were to go to the dealer.



There are RCV axles but they are no longer making them for our models. They couldn't dial them in and couldn't stand by their product any longer. Those were the most expensive but the best out there.

Excellent explanation. For a single OEM axle I think it'll run you about $300

I had to take my Yota to get serviced today. I got this recal notice in the mail for airbag module replacement, but at the dealership they told me there was actually three recalls for my truck. Reshaping of the gas pedal, and reprogramming the gas pedal and the break so that when both break and gas pedal are hit at the same time by mistake, the break will override. Read the notes on this recall it's pretty scary. It says your curtain air bags could pop when you start the truck and that you should wait 6seconds before you start moving when you start the truck to prevent this from happening. See picture

Ugh I hate the look of my exhaust sticking out the back like that. Is there a way I can get just the muffler that has a 90 degree bend in it to make th exhaust stick out toward the side instead of the bck without buying a whole exhaust system? Looking for budget minded options

Have you already had all of these recalls done? If not, I would strongly recommend you read up on them, especially the brake pedal/gas pedal recall. If you off road at all, that can be a huge pain in the ass. DAMHIK I suggest reading THIS thread from BlackWorksInc. He's a Toyota mechanic and very knowledgeable guy.

I also hate the gas pedal reshaping. I drive barefoot after surfing and the short pedal (REALLY short) hits right in the middle of the arch of my foot which is really annoying,

Take it to a muffler shop. It was $50 to get the resonator cut off and a 90° end welded on. The resonator does next to nothing on the V6. As an added benefit, you get a lot less exhaust in the cabin when you roll the rear window down.

I paid a local muffler shop ~$50-60 and they cut it off behind the resonator and added a 90 degree. Bonus was it fixed the exhaust smell with the back window down.

You could prob. find somebody to do it for less

Yeah, I haven't had my coffeee.....

Replaced my rear pads/rotors last night. Found a sticky piston on Saturday when I did my fronts, picked up a new caliper for the front passenger :/

I got front and rear bumpers, all the cladding, and rear mudflaps done for $835 at line-x San Diego. It was the premium spray with the UV coating.

It's true. I highly regret getting the recalls done. Gas pedal now sucks and its hard if you do any crawling.

I did not have the reshaping done but the reprogramming is already done, I actually called and tried to have it stopped after reading your post but it was too late. I guess I'll have to deal with it now. I am pretty pissed cuz I had the thought that I shouldn't do it but they recommended I have it done. I had already read about the air bag module, but it wasn't until i was at the service desk that they told me about the brake recall... I should have told them not to do it!!! Thank you so much for your input though man. Now I have learned my lesson I will do nothing to the truck without fully researching it first.
