What did you do with your 4runner today?

Found these locally cheap, they were Plasti Dipped and looked like shit.

Removed the Plasti Dip and swapped my 265 70 17 General Grabber AT2's.

Love the look with the FJ offset

Replaced the Fuel pressure pulse regulator today. Apparently the little diaphragm in these wear out and cause hesitation and a annoying clicking noise mostly when cold.



- Also put on a new diff breather



only things left is to change the oil, grease the driveline and get a coat of wax on it before the FJnortheasters run in 2 weeks!

When you replaced the Pulse Regulator, did you have to relieve the fuel pressure or did you just wrench it off and wrench the new one on?

Still bouncing around the idea of replacing my current 4Runner ('05 177k miles) with something a bit newer.

Local dealer got in a 2009 SR5 4Runner. Last year for the 4th gen. Went over to take a look: outside in nice shape, underneath less rusty than mine, but the interior was TRASHED. Reeked of wet dog (and I have 2 big dogs so if I'm noticing it....) and lots of damage to panels and seats. Pass. The nice thing about having owned multiple 4th gens is that I know exactly what I want and what I'm looking at.

Next over to look at a 2007 FJ Cruiser on a local used lot. Looked good from the street on the drive by but up close? Yuck. All 5 wheels are delaminating badly and someone tried to make it pretty with rattle can silver. Is this a common issue?

It must have belonged to the Marlboro man because the interior reeked. It was a stick, with the rear locker, but at $15.5 way too pricey for it's condition.

Getting back in my old 4Runner made me appreciate how nice it is, even if it is about to cost me some money in updates and maintenance. (suspension, radiator)

It'll still be less money than something along the lines of what you're looking at, you know where it's been, and it's going to last to double its current mileage.

I need to really poke around the frame with a screwdriver and make sure I don't have any issues before I pump more money into it. These things do not last forever up here in snow & salt country. They rust out long before the mechanicals give out and we have strict yearly state inspections.

I'm all for keeping mine and building it, I just want to cover all my bases an not throw money away.

Cleaning the garage found a bottle of Leatherique Prestine Leather cleaner/conditioner. Used it on a '05 Tundra to soften the leather. Applied it to the '08 leather because I'm obsessive about soft leather and it softened it up pretty nice compared to Lexol.

Oh no, salt... that'll do it. I recently finished up wire brushing and painting the underneath of mine. Still need to finish the truck bed liner and hit it with the Fluid Film. And I don't even live in the harsh winter, so I can't imagine.

Finished my Halo light install and new DRL control

I finally finished the wiring on my new Morimoto D2S projectors, the new Halo's, and altered my DRL circuit so I can utilize the Halo's as the new DRLs, or shut them off all together. Here is a video of how they now work:

Took off the spidertrax to do the rotors/brakes.
All of them came off with some work and PB except for one.
I might have banged it up a little much in one area with a screwdriver.
Do you guys think I need to replace it?

Yeah you're probably right. I just didn't know if that little scrape was gonna cause problems later down the line lol
I guess ill check on it every now and then.

The 2008 - handwash, claybar, DA orbital polish using Meguiars kit that goes onto your own drill and Meguiars Ultimate Compound.

DA polish brought out more dirt after the claybar treatment. Wiping off the Ultimate Compound the towels were dirty after wiping off small sections. It sure did bring out the shine. The truck is silver so swirls were hard to spot but on darker colors a DA polish really cleans up the clearcoat.

Finished up with a coat of Meguiars NXT Tech Wax 2.0. It looked OK before, but now the shine really pops.
