4th Gen with 5th Gen Wheels
New wheels and tires... BFG AT KO2's: 275/70R17 mounted on 5th gen wheels.
Any tips on those who have done this wheel swap where to trim the center caps to have them fit securely on the wheels?
(not sure why my 2nd pic wont upload with proper orientation)

Plasti-dipped the front grille today. The wife did the plasti-dip part, she's got a steadier hand for those types of things so sanding & masking everything off was my job haha turned out pretty good for the first run I'd say! Topped it off with a UV resistant matte clear coat.
And then did the back!
The back didn't come out as good, has a couple spots around the emblem that are kinda an eye sore, will probably re-do it soon. Haha next are the front and rear silver bumper accents. Not sure if I should just find replacement pieces that are black or plasti-dip them. Any tips are appreciated!

Ready to drive.....
I bought my 15yo son a 2004 4runner with 190k miles on it about a month ago. We have been cleaning it up, got it serviced, emissions test passed, tagged, replaced the cracked windshield and insured. Next is to replace the brakes (has a wobble), start cleaning up interior better, wheels/tires, stereo repair. Looking forward to this project with the son.

I just mounted my set of 5th gen trail wheels and the center caps went on just fine, not sure why you would need to trim anything.

One of the things about this truck that's been bugging me for a while now is the flap from the front seats has gotten droopy because the elastic that is suppose to hold it tight has failed. Pictures will show what I'm talking about. Anyways, I cut a small slit in the flaps with an xacto knife that's just big enough for a zip tie to fit through and zip tied it to a metal bar i found up under the seat. No more droopy flap [emoji1360]

just did this outside of work in between customers coming in and might've took 10 mins start to finish, great idea with the zip ties to pull it tight. Drivers side was a pain in the ass compared to the passenger side

Stereo Upgrade!
I have been wanting to upgrade my 4Runner head unit for a while now and finally did it this weekend:lmao: I purchased the Pioneer AVIC-5200NEX from Crutchfield on sale along with all of the extras needed for installation. I was going to take it to a local shop to have them do the job, but that would have cost an extra $200-300, so I did it myself and it wasn't bad at all. I haven't installed a stereo in over 30 years, so I am super excited that I did this on my own because it was very rewarding and frugal! :drum:

Picked Up some new rubber yesterday Nitto Grappler M/T 285/70R16 and I'm blown away at the difference between these and the Mickey Ts super quite and it's like riding on a cloud. Kinda funny that these are the only tires I could find in this exact size

All the reviews on them were awesome wth the exception of the few idiots who didn't take care of them. Right now they're only 203 each at discount tire (price matched form discount direct), got 4 out the door for 952 and couldn't be happier

The Clazzios just slide over the existing cloth. It's a very tight fit, so be sure to follow the instructions. There are also very helpful how-to videos on youtube that will save a lot of time and sweat. Took me about 45 minutes per seat for the front seats. I did the work outside in the summer afternoon, and by the end of it I was drenched in sweat.
