What did you do with your 4runner today?

On Saturday, I installed my Treaty Oak Off Road front recovery points. They seem extremely sturdy and look great too. The 2x4 under the radiator is to hold it out of the way when installing the upper bolts.
First I had to cut off the factory tie-down loops:
And then installed the recovery points:
It took about an hour.

Finally installed 2" leveling kit , now off to get alignment. At 194k with the original coils I still got 2" from a 1" spacer.

Picked up some SR5 wheels off of craigslist.They were brand new with less than 100 miles on them. They'll be replacing my original corroded wheels. Coated them with bed liner because black wheels...:madgrin:

I didn't realize the 5th gen uca's were swappable. Did these give you more room to adjust? Did you get it aligned to spec?

They're basically the exact same thing. It was just cheaper to get them from a forum member with less than 1000 miles than pressing out the old ball joints and pressing in new ones into my old UCA's. Not to mention the bushings that needed to be replaced as well on my old UCA's.

A few weeks ago, I took some time off and did a 2 week solo overland trip through Canada. I hit Quebec, drove the Trans-Labrador Highway, hopped a ferry to Newfoundland, made my way down to Nova Scotia, and then drove back to CT. It was an amazing freakin trip, and Canada is absurdly beautiful.
I finally got around to editing some of my favorite shots together from the trip, and threw it in to a video for shits and gigs

It was awesome. Such a sick trip. Left CT and went up through parts of Vermont and New Hampshire (had to stop at Mt. Washington) and then worked my way to the border. Quebec/Quebec City was cool, but once you hit the TLH, it is just wide open road for mile after mile. One day I did almost 400 miles and it was all dirt/gravel. Definitely rutted out and rough in some areas, but damn is that some of the most fun I've had driving and offroading ever.

My big dream is to drive my 4Runner from Atlanta to Fairbanks and back. Someday...

And I hear ya. Alaska is actually going to be my next trip, although obviously a number of years out. I want to drive from CT (or wherever I am living at the time), across the US hitting the big things like Yellowstone, the GC, Moab, etc, and then working my way up to Prudhoe bay and back. That'll definitely require at least a month, so I gotta start hoarding my PTO now haha

If you plan to do the trip described above you better plan for more than 1 month, it'll take about that long just to drive all that way and then back with very little if any time to enjoy all the places you mentioned, that is if you're still in Ct.!!

Well the hope is to move out to Colorado or some place in the midwest eventually, so maybe it'll start from there instead! But yea, I need to save up my time off either way haha. Thanks!
