What did you do with your 4runner today?

Thanks for cluing me in, in doing some thread searches I found a part number, but every link I try say's "discontinued".

Error on being cautious I thought replacing the screen may improve airflow, but if part is discontinued I have questions,

Is there a TSB?

Can it be cleaned?

Should it be removed? Especially in the case of high mileage?

i popped mine out with a flat head screwdriver. no intention of replacing it or cleaning it and putting it back in. i saw it on the "weekend mods" sticky and had no clue about it until then.

Passed state inspection! Truck runs like a top at 180k miles, clean interior and rust free exterior (plenty of scratches and dings though) but my frame is showing some serious ugliness from Vermont salted roads. No holes or anything so far though. Getting it professionally fluid filmed next week.

Yep, soon as it stops raining, extra air screen/filter is coming out too. Found 2 things https://www.tacomaworld.com/threads/diy-secondary-air-filter-removal.2012/page-24 on page 24 that convinced me, one is the top post page 24 shows a cut-away, guy describes it as "pre-clogged main filter". And later on that page another post says "they didn't see fit to put it in TRD intakes". A lot of the naysayer post just keep chiming in too much, and the did-nothing-for-me's probably had low mileage and serviced their air filter regularly. I got almost 300k and the sand from New Mexico is still washing out the back. I want nothing but clean filter from now on.

Replaced the front rotors and pads. The vibrations is gone and DAY-UM this thing stops and right f'ing NOW. Is nice.

Finished my new audio refresh

Installed -
Pioneer AVH-4200NEX
Kicker 6"x9" Component Speakers (and tweeters) in the front doors
Kicker 6.5" Coaxial Speakers in the rear doors
PowerBass Amp
Capacitor
Rockford Fosgate 8" sub in the factory location

Left the factory amp to push the speakers and having just the sub pushed (using 1/2 channels) by the amp. Thinking about building a custom box on the opposite side of the trunk so I can have 2 subs going, but that's down the road.

It sounds amazing and the kids loved it when I turned on Doctor Strange on the way to the soccer fields

Saturday I took a jeep trail up a nearby mountain to get to a fire tower at the top! I never got any group pics of everyone on the trail, sadly (there were 6 of us). I did get a quick video of the view (I recorded it in landscape, but it somehow came out in portrait. Oh well...And if anyone can give me tips on embedding the youtube video, lemme know. It's giving me a warning about unusual code when I use youtube's code)

Spent the weekend with my old Toyota 4x4 Club. Left my truck in the campground and road along with a friend in his LX on 36's. Good times. Really makes me want to update and upgrade my 4runner.

Stock++ build stage one complete

This week, I took care of a few pending minor mods:

• installed blind spot mirror on driver side
• ordered suspension parts: Metal Tech rear air to coil conversion kit, Bilstein 5100 front and rear, slightly used coil springs from a 2016 TE (the "new FJ springs")
• got front coilovers assembled
• replaced original, 14yo spare with newer matching Michelin LTX M/S2
• installed Blue Ridge Overland ceiling net
• attached foam pipe insulation to each crossbar (using PVC pipe wrap tape) for mounting Tred 1100 traction boards with tie-down straps
• affixed Metal Tech and Bilstein stickers ahead of the impending suspension mod
• cut Amerimax gutter screens to fit into rear side windows as bug screens
• installed AVS external mount VentVisors model 94924
• made paper stencils for Reflectix window shades

I was able to complete stage one of my Stock++ build last week by replaced XREAS/RAS with Metal Tech coil conversion kit, Bilstein 5100s, lightly used 2016 TE coil springs, and front and rear Moog sway bar bushings and links. This gives me exactly the lift I need for going to 32" tires in the future and provides a supple yet firm ride. I tried it out on the Iron County Recreation Trail (UP of MI) and really like the way it rides.

Got the swapped V8 in and running tonight! Woot!!! No more driving the GF's "mommy mobile"! Tho a Hyundai Sante Fe isn't a bad vehicle for daily driving. Not gonna lie. But damn those Doug Thorleys and...sound good! Can't wait to get the rest of the exhaust done on Friday!!!!

Hahaha...that is hilarious. The older Sante Fe does kinda resemble it. The 2017...not so much. I wonder how many times itll take me to remember mine doesnt have push start.

Gave her a wash and put some Jescar Powerlock/Collinite 845 on my freshly painted hood. No clear coat failure for this guy!
