Try doing the same as you did with your headlights, I did mine and they look good, I also did my taillights as well.

Finally programmed the key fob after having it in my possession for 3 months...lol. Weird part during programming was that it remote started the car. Really weird. Now to go get the key portion cut, maybe I’ll have a 2 in 1 key by November hehe...
Also I got in my front coilovers the other day. Don’t mind my dog.
And picked up some slightly used rear shocks. It was unexpected that I even bought the front coilovers this early so I had to cobble together something for the rear end.
Found them locally on CL with roughly 8k miles on them. Didn’t have to spend too much and I’ll pay the favor forward to the next person when I progress to a long travel setup.

Between this past Sat. morning and last evening... I removed my White Knuckle rock sliders, washed the 4Runner (it'd only been about forever since the last time I'd done it), replaced the engine air filter and the cabin air filter, installed my new RCI rock sliders, and sold the WK rock sliders to another forum member. All in all, not a bad weekend :trophy:

I have a pair of lower link skids sitting in my garage that I couldn't mount b/c of where and how the WK sliders attached to the frame. The RCIs mount differently (and are maybe 4" or so shorter) so they won't interfere w/ them.

The RCI rear link skids actually will tuck under the ubolt on the WK sliders.
Helps to keep the sliders from moving/shifting up.

Finally got my Wilco Hitchgate Solo High Clearance tire carrier. Now to mod it, bringing in closer to the 4Runner, and get my bike rack on there. Installed with my matching full size spare tire/wheel.

Just as an FYI, I originally planned to move mine in closer, but then realized I wouldn't be able to carry any fuel/water cans if I did. With the can holders, there's not much room between the cans and the hatch.

Good point. Which hitchgate receiver hole are you using? I'd like to use the second hole, but there doesn't seem to be enough material on the back of the factory hitch for the hitchgate to be secure. Your hitchgate looks much closer to your bumper then mine. I wonder if the "solo's" hitch sticks out further?

how are you going to mod it? I have my eye on one of these instead of a full rear bumper.
I'm considering 2 potential options, with one idea being far more invasive than the other. The "easier" route would be to cut the hitchgate receiver tube shorter (following the factory angle), and drill a new hole. This will also require having to weld in a new filler plate inside the hitchgate receiver.
My other more invasive idea would be to cut the receiver off the hitchgate, leaving me with just a swing out tire carrier. Then cutting a rectangular hole in the factory bumper that the swing out portion of the hitchgate would go into. I would then bolt it to the frame.
All that being said, the easiest thing to do is what "YetiX" did, and just put a rotopax, and highlift jack behind the wheel to fill the gap.
Ideas, ideas.....lol
Regardless of what i decide to do, the hitchgate solo hi-clearance tire carrier is very well built, and rock solid once installed.

Thanks! I am using the second hole. There is barely enough material to grab so the Hitchgate is secure. You just have to mount it carefully and make sure the wedge stays in place. I've dragged mine off-road, slammed it on drops and it's held just fine.

Tore into the front right end to see if I can narrow down what the light scraping I've been hearing is. Not sure I've pinpointed the issue, but I did find that one of the slide pins in the caliper was bent pretty bad. Hopefully the local auto parts store has some tomorrow.

Yeah, I tried that and there was not enough room between my frame and the U bolts. Not sure if I got the fat frame or skinny U bolts or what.

Ah, darn.
Mine was really tight, had to tap the skids in with the u-bolts attached but loose.
Another option is different link skids...too late now...some don't have the forward flange with the bolt holes...the part that gets in the way.
