What did you do with your 4runner today?

Ah, darn.
Mine was really tight, had to tap the skids in with the u-bolts attached but loose.

Another option is different link skids...too late now...some don't have the forward flange with the bolt holes...the part that gets in the way.

Yeah, I was a little bummed about it at first... but Im over it :D

Finally cut and programmed my 2 in 1 key.

Finally installed my fumoto oil valve. Was worried it would stick out past the skid, but it doesn’t so that makes me feel better. The next oil change should be a breeze [emoji41]

with valve and the oil filter location its unfair how easy it is.

... nothing special... basic oil change and greased the drive line... Fumoto drain made the oil change a snap... so quick and love not having to drop the skids.

Unhooked the battery and cleaned the MAF sensor and the throttle body. The MAF screws were a little loose which was strange. I've had the truck six years and no work has been done in this area. All tight now. Throttle body was fairly clean...compared to how dirty my last truck used to get. This one was very clean before the brass circle plate and a little black after that.
I took the opportunity to spray down the engine bay with a Dawn and hot water mixture to clean things up a bit. The took it on a mini-drive to actuate the 4-low system a couple times.
I haven't taking it on a longer drive other than around the block, but it seemed like it was running a tad more smoothly. One odd thing is now the temperature display is now reading 79*F and not changing. The low last night was in the high 80s. We'll see...

**Edit** Just went for on a short errand. Temperature now reads 114*F, which sounds about right. Just passed 75000 miles eight miles ago, too!

What I did with my 4Runner on Saturday was the Kentucky Toyota Trail Ride. In the process, I:
- had an absolute blast;
- made new friends;
- learned a lot about offroad driving; and
- gained an immeasurable amount of confidence in myself and my truck.

Wanted to say thanks to Luke Bogner of Eco-OHV, who was a principal sponsor and led our trail group.

I greatly appreciated not being looked down upon for having the only stock vehicle. There were others close to stock but they had A/T tires while I was on my Michelin Defenders.

We were the "easy" group but as you'll see when I get more pics and my dashcam video up, the two trails we did weren't bunny slopes by any stretch. All I got was encouragement and advice and my 4Runner was great. Made it through and up everything unassisted, including this. You can't see the tough part, it was long, steep, and had a muddy patch at the top with a large rock to get over. That stretch is where the farthest person visible is standing.

Also helpful was the communication and guidance from Doug, along with the constant chuckle of seeing his Taco-for-a-day Ford just ahead of me all day.

All in all, a great day and an event I would highly recommend if you're anywhere close to Stanton, KY when next year's run happens. I'm not that close (metro Atlanta) but was returning from a road trip to Missouri and decided to make the detour. Glad I did!

Replaced the sticky hatch button this morning. This is the kit I went with for the fix but there are plenty of options on Amazon and eBay besides this one and its much less than buying a whole new button from the dealer (~$65) although it is ~$27 online. New IMPROVED GRIP Replacement Repair KIT

One thing down several dozen left

Ive had my 4runner for one year today. I have driven it 23,374 miles this year. I also received a case of amsoil 75w-90 gear oil. I ordered it yesterday and it arrived today. I am very happy with that

I picked up one of the heavy duty hitches from the V8 model and am going to install it this weekend. It came with all the hardware which includes a couples of metal plates (spacers?) that I have no idea where they go. Would anyone be willing to take pictures of how their hitch mounts up, and specifically the sides and the center mount?

TIA!!

Finally got around to installing the Volant CAI I picked up from a forum member back in May. Starting to catch up on the backlog of parts in my garage lol.

I also found these laying around in my garage. Forgot I had these when I got some JDM parts for my 3rd gen. Don’t know what I’ll do but would be cool if I could put them on the 4th gen.

I do have two. I only held up one for a size comparison.

I picked up a 04 Limited V8 last weekend and got around to installing the bluetooth module for the JBL Synthesis system

https://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B0178G5RRE/ref=oh_aui_detailpage_o00_s00?ie=UTF8&psc=1

A bit pricey, but I didn't have to do anything special to account for the amp that the JBL system uses. If you've taken out a headunit in a 4th gen before, this takes about 30 minutes, mostly running the mic wire up the A Pillar.

It works flawlessly, using steering wheel controls and all. If you're looking at this, I recommend it.

Fixed the buzzing in my stereo by disconnecting this thing called a SWI-X that was hidden behind the head unit. The previous owner must of had it installed but my guess is that it didn't work or he broke it.

Also bought a USB charger to go in one of the blanks in the center console but now I have to figure out how to wire the darn thing up. Oops :noidea:

It takes 30 minutes if you're careful and don't break one of the clips. I broke the top two clips on the center piece and a third on lower down but was only able to glue one of them back into place. Thankfully I've had no rattling or rubbing since I put it back on.

My driver door actuator started having issues last week, and so my door was stuck closed and locked. After some helpful tips, I managed to get the interior panel off, and pull the lock cable with vice grips. I had been driving around like that all week, not locking the car so I could still get in. Yesterday, new actuator came, and I installed it today on my lunch break. Took almost exactly an hour to get the only one out, swap the cables, re-lube things, get the new one installed, and put the door panel back on. So nice to actually have a door panel, and working door lock+handle inside again.

Finally got rid of the original crappy 245/60R20 Bridgestone Duelers that came on the 5th gen limited 20" wheels and upgraded to some Michelin Defender LTX 265/50R20. Feels good to have the extra tread width back and also my speedometer will be correct!

I have a 2004 Limited with JBL, but I just checked on this Bluetooth Module and it said I would also need the "BT-TOYR cable" in addition to the module kit to complete this installation, did you require this additional cable as well?

Changed the oil: 1 year/5000 miles with Mobil1 0w40.
Discount tire rotated the tires, also at 5000 miles.

I love how this time/mileage works out for me per year. Gets all done at the same time!

Sent in oil sample to Blackstone, too.
