What did you do with your 4runner today?

Did a purely cosmetic mod today. Replaced the stock mirror with an edge less one from a GT86.

What was that mirror replacement like? I've wanted to replace the factory SR5 one with one that has 2 points of articulation but wasnt aware what options there were. That GT86 mirror looks great and not too expensive

It only took a few minutes. I haven’t figured how to lock it into place yet but it’s in there pretty firmly while driving at least. I’ll have to mess with it some more when I get home. It does sit a bit higher than the oem one. View is the same though. Might do a small write up later.

I picked up a used Pioner 4200NEX stereo head unit off Kijiji for a really good price. Just waiting for my installation pieces to arrive from Crutchfield. I was looking to purchase a headunit with Apple Carplay in it and it wasn't really a priority but for a deal I figured why not.
In anticipation of installing it I purchased a USB extender with a circular mount. I wanted to keep the clean wiring I have I power but to be able to use it to connect to the stereo as well. I decided to keep my current dual USB BlueSea mount and add the stereo USB to the same location. I put the extension in the BlueSea slot and added a new hole for the blue sea just below its original spot.
This allows a passenger to charge their phone as well as an additional item (headlamp, key fob, speaker... Etc).
The only permanent modification I had to make to the vehicle was cutting away some extra plastic behind the dash faceplate. This plastic was in the way of my original USB and I had to cut off a little extra below for the new one.
Easy stuff, doesn't seem to affect rigidity it anything and you'll never see it unless you take the dash apart so easy decision.

My girlfriend's 4runner had started to make the vacuum sound on startup (AIP failure). So I had ordered a pair of AIP Bypass kits from slyfox a few months ago. Figured may as well be ahead of the game with mine. Haven't had a chance to install the girlfriends but I was the guinea pig and installed mine. Super easy. Probably took me 20-30 minutes as I was going slow trying to make everything clean. Super simple kit and install is no challenge at all. Thanks again [MENTION=8828]slyfox75[/MENTION]

Pulled the tube steps off, rotated tires, added some stickers, nothing exciting haha. Truck needs an alignment as the front tires were starting to cup pretty bad already (rears are nearly new and the fronts got cupped in ~5-10k miles).

Looked for the source of an annoying clank noise when I touch the brake pedal. After much research, I think that I’ll buy new pins and springs tomorrow. In the picture below you can definitely see signs of motion on the pins.

Next week- plasti dip all the chrome & badges. Tint the front windows.
2 weeks - running boards off & add custom fab sliders
3 weeks - cry when looking at my bank account

Finally programmed the key fob after having it in my possession for 3 months...lol. Weird part during programming was that it remote started the car. Really weird. Now to go get the key portion cut, maybe I’ll have a 2 in 1 key by November hehe...

Also I got in my front coilovers the other day. Don’t mind my dog.

And picked up some slightly used rear shocks. It was unexpected that I even bought the front coilovers this early so I had to cobble together something for the rear end.

Found them locally on CL with roughly 8k miles on them. Didn’t have to spend too much and I’ll pay the favor forward to the next person when I progress to a long travel setup.

Poured sweat for an hour in the Florida heat doing a headlight restore with the 3M kit. Started with the 800 grit instead of the first pad.

Came out 95% brand new. Worth it!
