What did you do with your 4runner today?

Nothing matches now :lol: they couldn’t get it right in the second run so I had to bring them a physical example to match. I gave them the color codes and everything but they keep thinking copper is the same as bronze. At least the wheel shop is backing me on it.

Just gonna roll around like this until the powder coater gets it right.

A few weeks back I hit a deer in the freeway. I had to replace the head lights. The last week I’ve been painting the replacement bumper and today was warm enough to work outside and get it installed. Before and after pics.

Just breaking it in....
New timing belt due soon. The only major issues I've had over the last 88k is brake calipers. 5th gen brakes were an improvement but I regret my original decision of going to centric for those.
When do I replace the X-reas??? It's not leaking yet as far as I can tell.

I'm shooting for 300k. I don't know if I can handle not having a 4WD for much longer than that. Almost no rust on the frame so we're in good shape

Installed a $17 camera under my light bar in the front bumper and wired it to my head unit
It’s decent quality, can’t speak on night vision yet but day time is more than fine. It’s fully waterproof and for $17 if it does go bad it’s not a big deal to just plug a new one in. Amazon details claim it to be about 170° viewing angle and I would tentatively agree with that
My headunit is a kenwood dmx905s
I also tried wiring in a rear view camera but for some reason on this unit the camera wouldn’t turn on without disconnecting and reconnecting the video cable plug so until I have more time to play with it the reverse camera will stay in the garage

Ball. Joints.

Good lord that was an adventure and it's still not done.

Started at 8:30am replacing lower control arms and upper ball joints. Were able to get upper ball joints out/in fine once we figured out the best way to press them in/out (and after forcibly bending one of the arms back into place......oops).

But for LCAs the passenger front and driver rear bolts were seized. Fortunately I'd anticipated that and bought most of the new hardware I needed. Though I did end up having to make an hour trip to the nearest Toyota dealer that had the $30 eccentric washers I needed.........

The picture is after plasma cutting one of the control arms off so that we could get to the bolts with the $28 Harbor Freight sawzall I ended up buying.

The new LCAs bolted up great after 5 sawzall blades! It was ~9pm at this point and as we're buttoning everything up we discover that I was sent the wrong ball joints for the uppers...and that apparently 4th gen lower ball joints press into the upper control arms just fine. F***.

Got a ride home from my buddy (he lives like 50 miles away) and we'll hopefully be finishing the job on Friday when the new BJ's arrive.

Lord I can't wait to have new suspension. It was starting to change lanes on its own on the way to do the work...I'm impressed they lasted 185k though!

Replaced my passenger side front hub and bearing today. Install went easy and no more rumbling noise and whacked out bearing.

Lifted it yesterday. Daystar 2.5”/1.5” and replaced the XREAS with 5th gen stock components. Next up is 285/70/17 Falken Wildpeaks.

Dropped mine off at the local Toyota main dealer because of Christmas tree lights on dashboard. Initial diagnosis is bad ecu but they have asked for a few more hours to get some miles on the car to confirm it.

The independent dealer I purchased the car from had an ecu fitted a few weeks before I purchased it and never informed me. He supplied the ecu to a main dealer and they programmed it. It's popping codes since I bought it and so far the independent dealer is not interested in helping.

So could be bad news for me tomorrow :crybaby:

I'd look into doing it yourself and just having them reprogram a good used one (buy one on eBay, and if it doesn't work when it's guaranteed to, you can get a refund). It'll cost <$1,000 at most including the O2 sensor
