What did you do with your 4runner today?

Today, I got to replace the factory trailer wiring plug. I replaced it with an aftermarket part that has both the 7 pin connector, but also a 4 pin connector. It plugged right into the factory connectors. I had to customize the bracket it came with. But just a little grinding and drilled 2 new holes. I also finally did the part 2 of the foglight mod.

Hopkins (& others) also make a plug-in adapter that’s typically less than $10. The Hopkins model # is 47345. I use one similar to that.

Spark plugs and oil have no effect on this.

Did you get the coils fully seated on the new plugs, securely tightened into the cam cover, and the wiring fully connected? If you removed any hoses or other wiring to access the spark plugs, did you fully and securely replace said hoses and wiring?

I replaced the spark plugs a couple of weeks ago and it was seamless.

I agree with chassis, it sounds like you possibly have a vacuum hose disconnected or something else not making a proper connection.

Sliders!

Got confirmation that my sliders from RSG Metalworks are shipping tomorrow! I opted for bare metal, since they're going to get scuffed I might as well just rattle can them. With prep work it can look nearly as good as powder coating.

Tomorrow I'll be ordering my single swing out rear bumper from Coastal Off-Road through their group buy. It's gonna be a good time!

Spent an hour today troubleshooting why my back up cam wouldn't turn on on the head unit. I decided after a lot of multimeter probing that the cheap Chinese head unit is at fault. Just in case though, does anyone know what voltage a backup cam av connector should produce when triggered by the reverse wire? I was getting 12V leading up to the yellow plug and 1.xx from the plug, my presumption is that the plug reduces voltage before signaling the head unit.

If you’re referring to the round to 4 pin adapter, I have one of those and it worked great until the last time I towed my trailer. Now none of the lights work and I have to figure out where the problem lies. The trailer has a brand new harness with LED tails, so I doubt that’s the issue. When I saw the post about the replacement harness, I thought I’d have that info just in case I need to replace that. Does anyone know if there’s a fuse for just the trailer harness? Everything else related to my taillights on the vehicle works fine.

The camera and screen need 12 volts to work but that is not on the AV connector wire from what I've seen. That wire is ground and signal. Power is separate wires, usually more like a power adapter plug.

I tried to find the water leak from the sunroof drains. I ran some string trimmer line down the front drains with no problem, Except for one one small detail:

Minnie and Mickey had chewed through both front drain hoses. The moral of the story? Take the interior panels off and look.

04 Limited V8. Did you specify with factory wire harness? Or without factory harness?

Mine had a factory plug, it needed replacing.
