What did you do with your 4runner today?

Any idea what kinda power it's making? Seems like it'd be fun as hell!

It is really fun! I haven't dynod it yet but I pulled this image (below) from the URD website and their dyno of the kit on the GX470. Stock HP for the 4runner is ~260HP. Factor in the additional ~40hp I'm getting from the Doug Thorley Long Tubes, URD Y-pipe, URD Catback + air intake and the loss in HP from my larger tires, aluminum front bumper, and winch maybe you can take a best guess. If I get any real data I'll be sure to share.

Well, the front axle replacement wasn't all sunshine & roses. I noticed leaking on the front diff - but it was tough to tell where it was coming from. I re-used the washers on the drain & fill bolts because I didn't know that I would be needing them before hand. I also didn't have a hex bolt so I could use my torque wrench.

So today, I did another front diff drain & refill using new washers, and a torque wrench to get everything sealed all nice-like (I can't believe it's so easy! This is something I can handle like an oil change.). So if it's still leaking, that means I've damaged whatever seals or bearings inside the pumpkin. Thus, I'll have to take it to the indy shop, which means I'll have wasted any $$ I've saved by doing the work myself.

Let's hope it's dry underneath tomorrow.

The shaft seals tend to leak if they’re old or you nick them. They’re not very expensive the only downside is you have to take out the CV to replace it. Seeing as you’ve already done that, should be pretty easy. It’ll leak from the CV entrances if that’s the source.

Took here for the last ride yesterday.

Well, it was time. My '03 Limited V8 had been sitting in the driveway for the last 9 months, because it wouldn't pass the PA inspection because of extensive frame rust. I couldn't decide what to do with it, and it was easier to just let it sit, than make a decision.

But, a decision was forced on me, when my daily driver, an "02 BMW X5 began acting up. While browsing in a local Ford dealer lot, I stumbled on an '08 Tundra Extended cab short bed SR5. I got out to take a look, and almost couldn't believe what I was looking at. It was immaculate, and I mean in almost new condition. The previous owner must have been one fanatic about taking care of it. I could only find two very minor parking lot dings, which I missed the first time because they were so small. I got underneath and checked on the frame (in the NE it is a must to check it out), and it was almost new, with only slight surface rust in a few weld areas. It had been undercoated when new, and kept up during the years. The interior is like new, with one small upholstery tear on the leading edge of the drivers seat. Pretty much expected in these things. Carpets are immaculate, with factory HD rubber mats front and rear. It has a hard shell bed cover, which hinges up from the rear, and when I looked in the bed, it has a factory bed liner, which also looks like new. And to top all that off, it only has 115k on it. And one owner. It has the 5.7 iForce V8, with 6-speed auto 4x4. It wasn't cheap, but in that condition, it was reasonable.

So my 4Runner took its last ride yesterday afternoon, to the dealer along with the BMW, and I brought the Tundra home. It rides like a new truck. The suspension and steering are tight, but surprisingly not a harsh ride. I am expecting a long, happy relationship with it.

I don't plan on leaving the forum, but I will spend some time in the Tundra area when checking in.

Since I'm a first time 4runner owner, having just bought an '05 SE V8 4x4 a couple of days ago... I'm spending the day trying to decide what mods/upgrades I want to make on it and where to begin first.

My favorites:
-USB charging jack
-Front map light mod so they turn on when the doors are opened.
-Backup camera

Definitely going to get a USB charging outlet and backup camera when I change the headunit, the stock one definitely has to go. That light mod though, I can live without...however I will be upgrading all interior lights to LED.

Painted/installed my LFD front skid and a filler skid I picked up on here a while ago! My old ones were certainly ready to go...Seems super sturdy and arrived in just a week or two. My only issue was the one of the braces on the back was making contact with my passenger side diff bushing. I grabbed some nylon spacers and longer bolts from Home Depot and put them in the front, and now it's good to go! Pic is from when it was still hitting.

Time to go beat the crap out of it before heading to Overland Expo East tomorrow! If anyone sees me (or rather, my 4Runner) there, say hi!

I added some Rad Rubber Design fender flaps because my old ones were ripped and brittle. These ones are super high quality, i dont think they will ever rip apart. very easy to install, just rip the old ones out put new ones in. Come with new fasteners too.

Did this mod a few months ago. A little pricey for what it is, but I am satisfied.

Put on replacement liftgate struts
Replaced HVAC LCD bulb

Also:
Bought the AJT design key fob cover
AND finally pulled the trigger on a set of 5100s. Local 4wheeler shop had them on special for $316 tax included! Might be able to get them installed tomorrow as well! Definitely can't wait to see how it feels over the stock OEM shocks I have that have 159k on them lol. Also I will of course be leveling the ride out as well

Glad I put that skid on....just smacked the crap outta it, my muffler, and my right lower link. Water on your tires makes rock obstacles a liiiittle more difficult and slippery.

Think I have this going on on one side, what’s the best way to install the new seals? I’ve heard they’re very fragile. When I had new cv’s installed about 30k ago I didn’t change them like an idiot [emoji18]

Moved the 4Runner Out of the Driveway...

Needed to take some pictures of the 4 new Cooper Discoverer STT Pro LT295/70/17's I'm hoping to sell. Also steam cleaned the headliner. Headliner held together perfectly with the added heat.

I’ve never had to replace mine even after swapping CV’s at least twice each side. If I remember correctly from reading about it, easiest method is to pull the old one, just barely seat the new one in the housing and use the CV to push it in as the CV seats. Others also used a piece of PVC but had problems seating it too far or mangling it and it still leaking I think.
