What did you do with your 4runner today?

The stock injectors are 4 hole. The 12 hole injectors give a better, finer spray mist than the 4 hole do. Better atomization should lead to better power and gas mileage.

YotaMD did dyno testing between freshly cleaned 4 hole injectors and 12 hole injectors to validate these claims, and the results were underwhelming:

That said, going from dirty 4s to clean 12's might make a positive difference

Yeah, I'm not expecting amazing differences, just trying to optimize the parts as a whole. That test was for injectors only on a 2uz that already has the plastic VVT intake. I'd be more interested in seeing a dyno test like that doing the swap I'm doing from the aluminum intake and 4 hole injectors to the plastic VVT intake and 12 hole injectors.

The OEM injectors on the engine now are at almost 283k miles and have never been touched to my knowledge. Interestingly, I had the OEM injectors on my 1999 Tacoma 3.4L cleaned and tested at 323,700 miles on them and the flow results were very minimal from dirty to clean. So I doubt the stock 4 holes in the 4runner right now are flowing much worse than when they were new.

Got the struts assembled but I need to replace my front axle before the lift...

Put a new seat cover on the passenger seat and have the driver seat apart waiting for the new seat bottom to arrive. Steamed the carpet as long as the seats were out and it was nasty.

Radio is being replaced since this Alpine won't work correctly, so that should be here Weds.

Was going to just put the lift on the blue one but that one has a ripped boot so I might as well change the axle on that one as well...

It was a little pricey @ $530. However, I plan to do both 4 runners, and my jeep, and whatever else in the future. I am done using the rental suicide sticks. I had each strut together in under 30 seconds.

Took a quick trip through Lytle creek to lone pine to cleghorn (just a 1/3 of cleghorn) to test out the icons... I was very impressed with how smooth they were. I know a lot of people say it but actually feeling it for myself was awesome!

This is where it's at right now. Lots of cleaning since I'm painting the valve covers too. And the intake needed a ton of cleaning as well before I can install it. Plus I'm waiting for the valve cover bolt grommets to get here, forgot to order them before hand.

I got up to 70mph on the 10 Freeway in the heart of Los Angeles at 6pm for quite a stretch. I could get used to this everybody staying home stuff. I think I’m just going to drive around LA doing wild and crazy things for the next few weeks like getting from one point to another in a reasonable amount of time.

Are you going to take the opportunity to servicing the starter by replacing the solenoid contacts and brushes since you have it taken down this far?

I probably should but I didn't think of that until you mentioned it just now so I don't have the parts to do that on hand. I'll have to see if I can get them from the local Toyota dealer today, otherwise it will have to wait. Trying to get this all completed this weekend if at all possible.

Intake is built and ready to go on. Valve covers are cleaned and painted, just waiting for the bolt grommets to arrive today since I forgot to order those originally. Going to work on getting the timing belt replaced today.

Weight difference between the aluminum intake and the plastic intake: about 12.5lbs. Doesn't sound like a lot but it's very noticeable when you pick each one up. 31.7 for the aluminum and 19.1 for the plastic. Will it make a difference in the big picture on the truck? No, not really but it's nice to know it lost a little bit of weight :thumb:

I didn't realize how quick any of these trucks were until I was following one of the moms back to my daughters school. We were both running late and I was in an 18 Honda pilot and she was out! We had a nice chat about the laws we broke together when we got there. And she's cute too! lol

My buddy and I wired all of my accessories to a factory Jeep XJ fuse box so that all of my relays and fuses would be grouped together in one place. We wired my switches up to a switch panel made by @TiN on the forums.

Super happy with how it turned out. Using the XJ box also made it easier to wire specific accessories to be either key on or always on which is nice.

The length of the XJ box made it hard to fit it next to the factory fuse box, so for now it's just ziptied in place

I also made a driver seat fire extinguisher mount. It tucks up in front of the driver seat and actually doesn't get in the way too badly. I can still rest my feet away from the pedals comfortably without hitting the fire extinguisher.

I took some 1" angle iron and some scrap tube from work, welded it up, and painted it to make the main bracket. Then I attached a quick-release mount to the tube so I can get to the fire extinguisher quickly.

The best part is that it DOES fit with a weathertech floor mat without having to cut the mat. Pretty happy with how it turned out!
