What did you do with your 4runner today?

While I was making jumper wires to do a Zero Point Calibration (VSC was cutting in way too often when it shouldn't be - try this post lift if it happens to you) I realized I had all the parts to do the "fog only" mod.

Installed my back up camera today. That little tiny camera sure is a lot of work lol. The first pic. Shows the red wire with yellow stripe that I used to tie into for my reverse trigger on the driver side. Wish it had the parking lines though, didn’t realise it didn’t have them till after it was ordered. Oh well, not sure I’ll be replacing it and doing this all over again but would be quicker the 2nd time around.

Do you have anymore pictures of those trails? Or are they just dirt roads?

They are definitely trails. The way I differentiate roads and trails is how fast you can go on them. You can easily go 40+ on a gravel road (not that you should); on this ride, we started off at one point and about 15 minutes later my doors auto-locked, which they do when the truck reaches 12 mph.

Gentex 453 auto dimming mirror

Installed my Gentex 453 auto dimming mirror with compass and home link. What a sweet little upgrade and super easy to install, especially with a moon roof.

Also got a cover craft ufs100 sun shade made for the 03-09 4Runner, makes such a difference with my vehicle parked facing the south.

Nice, I've had that same cover for years now! You can just make it out in the first pic in my post above haha!

Dave from alltrails.com was driving the Land Cruiser & kindly sent the map below showing our route. He circled the 3 roads we completed. The red star is at the church where we met up (5850 Doublehead Gap Rd., Blue Ridge, GA).

The red triangle is around Tickenetley Road, a great out & back trail that features this crazy wrecked SUV (pic by Michael Krupar).

Well, yesterday I finally got around to installing my 17” Stealth Custom Series SR8 wheels that I've been sitting on for several weeks while I decided on tires. These are replacing the stock 18" Limited wheels and whatever Continental tires the PO had on them (I've only owned this 4Runner for a month). I finally decided on Goodyear All Terrain Adventure in 265/65r17 and the night before I had them installed I started having second thoughts and saw that Discount Tire had the Wrangler UltraTerrain AT in 265/70r17 in stock at my location. I'd been going back and forth between those 2 sizes and initially wanted the BFG KO2 in 265/70r17 but was concerned about the rubbing at stock height and with only a mild desire to ever raise the truck (0.85" on Bilsten 5100's if I did) I really just wanted a good looking A/T tire to fill up the wheel wells without a lift and wasn’t sure the tires I’d chosen would totally do that and upon arrival I told them my last minute thoughts about potentially changing to the larger size but thankfully they talked me off that ledge.

When they finished up I was SUPER stoked on the look. Although they're the same outer diameter as the tire/wheel combo they replaced, the wheels are wider and the more aggressive tread makes them look bigger to the point where I really am happy I didn’t go with the larger tires as they would have been way bigger than I was going for and as-is, I am completely off wanting to lift the truck and think that right now it’s exactly what I was hoping for.

Installed these reverse LEDs to complete my LED swap. Now I have all interior LEDs (with the exception of the glovebox), LED high and low beams, and now my reverse lights are LEDs!

Another pic from my recent LED bulb exchange. I still had the OEM glove box light so having an LED in there is particularly nice. A note to anyone who may be wondering why their glove box doesn’t light up when it’s opened, the headlights also have to be on. Presumably Toyota figured the light wouldn’t be needed in the daytime. Easiest way I found to change it was using tweezers through the little grill. It requires a little bit of touch since you can’t squeeze too hard.

Man that little LED is sure bright. Much brighter than the stock, I can barely tell mine’s even on. I’ll have to grab one. Other than that and my vanity mirrors, my LED swap is complete.

BD has a DOT compliant optic? That is a sharp cutoff.

Added 2 interrupter (on/off only) non-lighted switches. 1 ea. For my map light mod and 1 for my courtesy step lights.

While I had the lower dash apart I got a wild hair and decided last minute to add my front Foot well lights. They go on and off with the doors. Used the 12” LED strips I had left over but cut them to 6”, still pretty bright. I ran power through the Center console for when I get a chance to add under the back sets.

I didn't actually DO anything on the T4R today but.... I ordered the Daystar 2.5/1.5 spacer lift kit, 2 front cv axles and both the blend door and mode door actuators. So, in about a week I'll have plenty to report that I did to my T4R.
