What did you do with your 4runner today?

A couple things from the past few weeks that I didn't post yet:

Didn't take any good pics, but finally got around to replacing my sway bar bushings front and back.

THE CLUNK IS GONE!!!!

It was a PIA (should have soaked in PB blaster ahead of time) but we'll worth it. Ride is better and quieter.

Also used megular's 2 step to clean up my headlights with very satisfying results (I'll try to add before/after below).

Last things: added an atoto head unit and ran a backup camera. Simple enough process and I'm really happy with the results.

Next up:
-Backup camera button (to see it when not in reverse)
-LED bar in lower grille
-Maybe struts? Or roof rack? Or both? Let's see if we get another stimulus.

Second round of a rack replacement. Had a difficult time with a specific company that people recommended on this forum. The owner is really hard to get a hold of and I’ve been stranded without power steering for around three weeks now. I recommend all to steer clear (pun intended).

Upgraded from the OME 895s to the 896 (330lb constant load) due to the added weight of a ladder, drawers, and rack/rtt.

I noticed my sway links are trashed so ordered some 2nd gen ones and hope to have that done next weekend.

Rad Rubber Design splash guards. Been missing 2 of 4 for some time. The fasteners it comes with are nice and the rubber is probably three times thicker than stock. I got the body lift version and they fit great.

There was a delay in shipping. Customer service was great! I emailed, got a response the same day with a lengthy and acceptable explanation. I don't mind waiting, as long as I know why I'm waiting. Definitely recommend!

Got my alignment done today. 4Runner drives great and the road manners seem much improved with the new Whiteline bushings. Got my skid plates reinstalled and double checked the lug nut torque.

Rear spoiler installed

Installed my new color matched painted spoiler with LED brake lights tonight. The brake light matches the rear brake lights well. Was super worried about drilling holes in the 4Runner but after the 2nd hole it was no biggie. Looks great, hopefully it will help keep the crud and dust off the back window.

Looks good. I prefer the no hoop look too. You weld it up or have a local fab guy do it? I've been looking at their bumper kits since its release but havent pulled the trigger.

Me and a buddy welded it up and then grinded it down and painted it. Never realized how much work went into these things... I see why the pre fabbed bumpers are so expensive!

Today I replaced the front & rear stock bump stops with SuperBumps. I’ll review the difference at some point and will also post on my ordering experience with Wheeler’s, which wasn’t good.

I also deleted my mud flaps and discovered two things: I like the look much better:

And I was overthinking the difficulty level of the rear mudflap delete. I traced the edge of the body with a Sharpie, removed the rear flaps, then got out my jigsaw, which didn’t work well. That’s when I remembered that trying the simplest option first is always smart. Turns out these snips will cut the plastic easily.

Replaced both LCAs with SuperPro LCAs. The build quality is top notch and I’d recommend if you don’t want to do the whiteline bushings yourself.

It took about 3 hours total on my back on the hot ground.

Replaced my driver side steering rack boot. The original boot was torn, it appears it wasn't a stock boot I cut off a zip tie on it. Went with OEM this time.

These mounts for lights/antenna. I haven't decided if I want to move my CB to that or save it for a high lift mount.

More what I didn't do...

I found a super low mileage 4th gen Limited with the 4.7 v8. It has 117K kms so like 63K miles. It's a 5 hour drive away but I'd be willing to rent a trailer to attach to my 5th gen and lug it home. Selling for an upper echelon price ($15K CAD or $11K USD) but I have an unhealthy obsession for the 4th gens with the 2UZ engines.

I pulled a car proof and it was in a $9000 accident in 2014. In 2013, it had both lower control arms replaced (ball joints had a bit too much play which I found odd since it only had 85K kms at the time (52K miles). Then in Jan of 2018, the dealership had to replace both front axle boots cause they found aftermarket boot clamps on them which worked their way off. OEM boot kit installed. I found this part the sketchiest, though. It's my guess the lady smoked something in the middle of the winter and then brought it to a hack shop to fix while missing the bent knuckle.

In Mar of 2018, the notes in the service records show that the dealership couldn't get the right rim in spec because the front right knuckle was bent.

To top it off, the timing belt hasn't been replaced yet so that was another cost to add to the list. Any more fixes and I might as well just buy another 5th gen.

I really wanted this one to turn out. Kinda sad it turned out to need too much work.
