Removed the Kenwood DVD receiver and Sirius stuff PO had installed, went with a lower-end Sony and added a module to turn on the factory JBL amp. System sounds very good and I no longer have a nuisance in my dash (hate touchscreens). Will post this up for sale shortly.

Replaced battery w/ a 24F AGM from O'Reilly's (manufactured by East-Penn).

It's great that Toyota improved the cross member!!

There is however a much better price to be had...!!

Wasn't getting any warm air on driver's side (made defogger useless), isolated to the driver's side air blend actuator (Limited with Dual Zone climate control). Disengaged wiring from servo motor, removed 3 phillips screws, tested direct off battery and found no movement/the stutter-clicking. Opened the motor case, cleaned it up, dabbed some white lithium grease on the gears, retested - all good. Perhaps unnecessary and will bite me later, but I put a small dab of glue on the shaft for the worm gear. Reassembled/reinstalled, works perfectly and silently.

I did a couple different things to my gen 4 over the weekend. First I replaced the O-ring that was leaking coolant from the backside of the thermostat housing. Then I installed a winch into my factory bumper. I’d love to post pics but when it resizes them they post sideways and upside down for some reason...

imgur is pretty easy and works well. The forum is really wack for uploading pics, so 3rd party hosting is the better option for me. I upload them to personal images, choose the size at the bottom, then copy in the "linkedBBcode" link and paste it in. I use mostly medium thumbnails and large thumbnails, check out some of the posts in my signature to see examples of the two sizes.

Took it up into the mountains this weekend when I visited home. Was the first time I've managed to get my dad to ride along! Wasn't a hard trail (fire road, really) but did find a little mud. With all the craziness in the world right now, it was great to get out to the middle of nowhere for a few hours.

Also took some pics at a spot I'd stopped at a few years ago. Crazy how much the old girl has changed

Cool, my seat is ripping out and would like to try to replace as close to OEM.
very difficult in changing? Foam off of Ebay as well?

Foam came from a Toyota dealer, was about $180 for the foam, but it's a vast improvement!

Changed out stuck front calipers, rotors and pads on Friday. Drove it 500 miles round trip to hike Mt LeConte, TN.

Great vehicle. Missed my 2018 4Runner and my friend was ready to part with his 2005. Lucky me.

Next up rear hatch window seal, rear brakes and an OME lift before the end of 2020.

Thanks to all of you fine folks on this forum. Giving me great ideas and depleting my checkbook :bravo:

I'm sure you know this but the V8 needs a timing belt job every 90k. Sounds like a nice buy, but I can't say because no pics! Lol

No pics, but thanks to this forum - replacing 2 sheared off rear wheel studs was quick and easy.

Jack up and secure the truck.
Remove wheel.
Remove 2 17mm bolts holding caliper in place. Secure it to the side.
Pull rotor off.
Remove parking brake adjuster (and clean it while it's out).
Rotate broken wheel stud location to approx. 6:30 position.
BFH on broken stud.
Pull the new one into position using lug nut against spacers, washers, large nut, whatever.
Reinstall parking brake adjuster.
Reinstall caliper, rotor.
Adjust parking brake.
Reinstall wheel.
Beer.

Might as well finish off the entire pack at the end so you can start on a fresh pack for the next job.

Replaced leaking steel power steering return tube with hose, barb fittings and hose clamps rather than go for the $100+ OEM replacement. We'll see how it holds up. Rusted tube holder clamp on top of frame rail was a pita!

Windrock Trail 3 (Difficult Rating)

Went to Windrock park this past weekend with some friends and did trail 3. Tough trail! It took awhile but got the 4Runner up its first black-rated trail there. Here's a video of me smashing my bumper and sliders on every single rock

What I did today - CV axle

Replaced the front passenger side CV axle because when I was installing the Powerstop brakes last week, I noticed a leaking boot. $90 at Autozone got me a new CV axle, and this forum and YouTube university helped me do the job myself, saving $200 I would've paid to a shop. I'm mechanically inclined, but this was a first for me. Took about 2 hours (plus another hour spent making two more trips to Autozone). The axle nut, by the way, was 35mm. Not a standard size, not easy to find. I mention the size because that's one thing I couldn't reliably find on this forum. Some said 36mm, some said 35. I can confirm that a 1 3/8" socket will also work.
