Finally got my wheels installed FXN BFG 285 AT
New to the forum, site got me interested in turning my 2013 4Runner Limited from grocery getter to a little tougher look. Costco wouldn't install wheels because of liner rub, wanted them installed so bad I paid $225 to have 4 wheel parts trim and remove mud flaps, I didn't have the patience and time to do myself, but peace of mind made it worth it. I've been researching site and loved the look of 285's on 5th Gen. They fit, haven't heard any rubbing yet, but love the matte bronze FXN wheels and 285's. Bilstein 6112 coilover front with 5160 rear, Icon 1.5" spring. BFG all-terrain 285/70r17. 0 offset FXN wheels for the win!!!

Intake, Mudflaps, Exhaust woes
I bought an afe intake a few months ago but was quickly defeated during install by the bolts holing in the original intake and A/C bracket. Of course, rust being the culprit. I ended up breaking the nut from the fender so the bolt would only spin. I would attempt to install it numerous times with no luck but the last week I devoted some time each night to just wail on the things. Cutting, grinding, drilling, whatever I could throw at them. And after three days I finally got it installed!
I really only notice the sounds when parked and giving it some throttle. I was expecting more of a noticeable difference while driving. It could be my exhaust though, it's pretty F'd at the moment.
I do think there's a noticeable increase in response although it is slight.
I installed a set of Rokblokz mudflaps last weekend as well. The installation went very well (a huge surprise considering I've had to drill out just about every original bolt on the damn thing)
I like that they actually cover my tires completely now so that will hopefully reduce the rock knicks I get. I do rub up front if I turn the wheel more than like 5º but I think once I replace my suspension that'll be much reduced. Also, you can install them on reverse sides so their logo isn't noticeable from the back.
I went to the exhaust shop today to have my muffler and tailpipe installed but I guess they don't do custom tube bending so they couldn't get the tailpipe to get over the axle and couldn't do the install. They also notified me about some other exhaust leaks I wasn't aware of. Hoping the other shop they recommended will be able to help as they do mandrel bending and custom work.
The muffler I went with is the Flowmaster 10 series and I'm pairing it with an Aero Exhaust TR251 resonator. I also picked up the Toyota black chrome exhaust tip from the dealer since it matches my wheels

Finally was able to have a friend buzz on the Eimkeith lower link skids that has been sitting in my garage for sometime now. While the 4runner was on the lift, I saw that I was missing a bolt on one of my RCI skids..so im gonna have to replace that.

I purchased this grill through AliExpress, it seems to be fairly well constructed. It looks pretty cool but definitely makes me want to add a bumper of some kind. It did come with some amber lights but I didn’t have time to add those in. Any suggestions on where to link them up so they come on with the driving lights?

I've been fighting off the urge to get a new(er) GX460 for a while now. Absolutely nothing wrong with my 4Runner--I love it, and there's no reason to replace it with a GX--just some 'want.'
So I decided to knock out a little bit of 'Love my 4Runner again' stuff that makes me smile when I drive it.
First, no real pictures, but all of my window seals/trim were all deteriorated. So I replaced all 5 pieces and lubed the window tracks with lithium spray lube.
Next up--I felt a little pulsating when braking, so I figured it was time for a brake job, as I had never serviced the brakes since I bought it. I found one front and one rear piston seized, so I 'seized' the opportunity to do a full brake job--new calipers, rotors and pads, and full bleed.
Next was an oil change with Mobil1 and Toyota filter.
And last but not least, I have joined the semi-modern world with Apple CarPlay and everything that comes along with a modern head unit.
And I just turned 140k this weekend!

Replaced my moonroof the difficult way only to realize it was a simple 4 screws. What could have been a simple 1 hour job turned into 8 combined but I got incredibly acquainted with the 4runner in that time haha.

Ordered and received this ScanGauge II the other day but was fully enthralled with replacing the clutch in my Scion and didn’t have and extra 10 minutes to install it. Got it in this morning. I still have some features to program, one of which requires a full tank of gas then another. At 4.98 gal this is gonna have to wait lol. I originally was just looking at an OBD scanner for codes but this thing has some really cool features with the extra X-gauges. Now to find a better mount. Velcro tabs aren’t gonna cut it when temps around here get up to 115° or so.

Finally got to finish my dual battery set up, Hope I did it right, if anyone can check this set up I’ll appreciate it: main battery positive to 40amp braker, from there to red wire of Redarc, brown wire of Redarc to second battery positive, main battery negative to second battery negative, black from Redarc to second battery negative, grounded second battery to chassis, other wires from Redarc not connected yet (solar panel next and optional LED for battery charging), wonder if I absolutely need to connect the wire to the ignition fuse under the cabin panel, thanks for any input... also can someone tell me how to add the info about my 4R at the bottom of each post
