What do I need to run these headlights (03 --> 06 aftermarket halo)

Sorry for having yet another thread about headlights, I know they are a dime a dozen, but I can't seem to find an exact answer. I've read through countless threads about this by now.

I have a 2003. I want to upgrade the look of the front end, without looking too "Rice-y" like most of the 03-05 aftermarket lights. I am also poor. I could blackout mine, or if I'm going through the trouble, I could upgrade to projectors while I'm at it. So I want to buy these:

They seem to be a good middle ground between total cheap shit and expensive OEM. I can deal with adding silicone to keep the insides dry if needed.

What exactly is involved with putting these in my truck other than having the slight gap in the grill? If someone is willing to list all of the harnesses, parts, etc that I might need, that would be great! I don't want to go HID or spend any more money really, so barebones is fine.

However this says that I'd need to run LED's to make it work. Is this really true in this case? I cannot afford to spend that much more.

If anyone is willing to link me to a proper installation guide with wiring, or provide links to the wiring kits I might need to buy, that would be great! I have no idea how the halo wiring would work either.

The link from Kraziekid is a good one. You will need some type of new bulbs, it can be stock halogen for $ savings. 03-05 bulbs won't work in 06-09 housings.

Can I not run the bulbs that come with these Amazon lights? I would just need the eBay conversion harnesses right?

But according to the other thread, I will have issues with the bulbs burning out quickly due to improper wattage? Unless I convert to all LED?

didnt realize they come with bulbs. Yes you can use those bulbs with the conversion. However I am sure they are cheap bulbs and wont last long. You don't have to go LED, you can do HID or just a better halogen bulb.

When I was talking about improper wattage, I was talking about the turn signals and if you decided to wire them IN ADDITION to the pre-existing 2003 bumper turn signals. That caused overloading in terms of wattage, tripping the relay. Because of that, I simply stopped using the pre-existing 2003 bumper turn signals, and now my turn signals are only the 2006 ones up top in the new housings. I use standard halogen turn signals.

You do not need to convert all of your bulbs to LED. I initially used LED bulbs cause I thought they looked cool. I recently switched to higher wattage halogen bulbs for my low and high beams and they are awesome. I have had zero problems with heat or overloading or wattage or anything like that. If you have any questions, let me know and I can help sort you out on this one

Ah, thanks for the clarification! Can I still leave the existing bumper turn signals wired as running lights? As for the halos included in these Amazon lights, it seems like I just need to tap them into the running light circuit and they'd be good to go. So then the whole thing is essentially an easy swap as described in your thread, right? Purchase these lights, the $5 eBay wiring harnesses to convert from my old bulbs to the new bulbs, and then the little filler pieces. (Which I would probably not buy for now to save the money, I can live with the gap). Then just install. Correct?

As for the bulbs, seeing as the included bulbs might be cheap crap, what should I put in there for optimum light output, reliability, and a decent white light (as opposed to my original lights being pretty yellow?) I dont want to spend the money on a full HID or LED conversion (plus from what I read they aren't very reliable when done cheap), so are there good upgrade options that won't cost TOO much?

Ah I did misread the ad regarding whether or not they come with bulbs. They do not, but two pairs of decent halogen bulbs from Amazon should only run $40. The highs and lows use the same bulbs right?

Any highly recommend halogen bulbs for these? A whiter light would be ideal.

You probably won't be able to use them as running lights. The issue stems from the fact that our turn signal bulbs are typically 27w, so the relay is rated for 27w. If you wire them as turn signals, you will overload the relay. If you try to wire them as running lights by tying in to your parking lights, you will likely overload the small stock wiring since the parking lights are super low wattage. You could do what I did and just remove the turn signal housing and install lights down there. I ended up putting two amber LED foglights on an independent switch in that area and I think it looks pretty cool and gives me awesome lighting in shitty weather.

And no biggie on not messaging me. I think sometimes it's better that people start threads like this so other people can read it and get ideas and learn some stuff.

So this is a bit of a personal choice for bulbs. For me, I liked the whiter light of my LEDs, but not the output. So I started doing more research and found out that whiter light tends to look brighter, but you are actually getting less throw overall, decreasing overall output/visibility in the real world. Plus a lot of brands markup the shit out of their "xenon white" bulbs.

But first, NO, highs and lows are not the same bulb. The low beam is an H11, and the high beam is a 9005 bulb. After doing some research, I found out that people were actually slightly modifying bulbs in order to get better halogen output. So instead of using an H11 bulb, you can get an H9 bulb, which offers higher output, and make it fit simply be trimming a little tab on the bulb. Similarly, you can run 9011 (HIR) bulbs instead of 9005 bulbs, and they offer higher output again. Just need to do another simple tab cutting. I have been running both H9s and 9011s for about 5 months now and they have been awesome. Definitely increased output (although it has the stock halogen yellowish look) and bulbs can be had for pretty cheap.
