What do you think? 3rd generation 4runner

thanks. If you seach the threads on this site for a tacoma '03 skid plate to fit the 3rd generation 4 runner you'll see some steps how to do it. I tried searching and the pics that were there last year are now gone.
basically this is what I did.
1. bought a '03 tacoma skid plate from toyotapartspeople.com
2. Bought a piece of steel from Homedepot and cut it 2 rectangles about 3 inches or so and drilled 2 holes into it (placed the gaurd on first and measured w/ a measuring tape to see what looks good - could have been 3 or 4 inches). 1 hole for the skidplate and 1 hole to mount under the truck and bolted it back up.
I remember the bolts were a ***** to unscrew b/c they were rusted. When I went to get an oil change i just had them unscrew the bolts and hand tighten them back on so I could mount the plate at home. I started stipping one of the bolts and gave up.
My only advice would be to measure under the truck and get a wide enought piece of steel. What I have only holds up 1 set of holes on each side not 2. It is still good since there is no shaking or rattling (and this is what the thread I read a while back said as well) but if I had to do it over I would have gotten a wider piece of steel for both sets of holes on each side.

It definitely has gotten a bit blingy but it flows. Out of everything my favorits is the celar corner and signal lenses and new hood - they make the biggest difference.
I have all the old parts if I ever want to change it back or when I sell it someday and include to whoever buys it.
It was starting to look not so hot a few years ago before I really cleaned it up and replaced some of the parts. Performance wise - may not do anything at this point - i've spent enough for now but maybe down the road.
The inside is in good shape excpet for a 3 inch tear in the driver seat side and 2 car seats in the back. If I had a 3rd car/suv I'd take the car seats out but they'll be in there for a few years.

Yeah, I know what you mean. I lent mine to my pastor with his 2 kids for a week and their car seats left a couple big marks that lasted for a while. They are pretty much gone now after cleaning and conditioning the leather. If mine ever becomes a baby-hauler, I might see if I can pick up some cloth rear seat bottoms.

That's Altezzas that get their name from the Toyota of the same name (in Japan) when it appeared in america in '98 as an Lexus IS and had that distinct style light for the time and it wasn't long before they appeared on Civics and everything else and then trickled to trucks as the car industry as a whole moved to that style of lighting.
My opinion of them is Rob's 4Runner is done so classy and tight those lights (while fit the '02 era) actually cheapen the look a bit and a set of OEM style LEDs would compliment the truck much more. Overall I actually like it alot and wouldn't mind finding my wife something like that for around town and it would never see off road.

Man, that is alot of money for a skid that doesn't offer any protection. I know couple guys have gone for them here, but man, I just cant see spending that kind of scratch for something that doesn't add protection. Then again, I can't really understand the money people spend on the tail light replacements either. To each his own I guess.
