What do you think about these Wrangler Duratrac Tires???

no, clemson fan, i realize he has a different year, i was talking about a tire shop that would test fit them for him , not if that size would fit. in the old days, there was a shop, by me, that would (cooper bros) but that was a long time ago, nowadays, people just arent that nice, not to mention, the possiblity of not being able to sell that tire as new after the trial fit since you would have to drive it to truly test it. but it doesnt hurt to ask em. by the way, im not the one with the 99.

i believe that 220 a piece price is what they cost where he lives. Hawaii. i bought mine here for 180 a piece including shipping.

Sloan has an '01 so it's sitting a good bit lower than a '99.

I thought only the 4WD's were affected by the changes in spring height?

yea your right chaz people (me included) wouldnt want to buy a slightly used instead of the brand new tire. maybe i can find a used shop that has some laying around?

wouldn't upsizing the tire provide a slight lift since its a taller tire? making it fit? or am i just crazy

I know we all keep talking about it, but I called Discount Tire and tomorrow I will be getting mine put on. Currently I am running 265/70/16 Good Year Silent Armour BS street tires and almost got stuck off-road over the weekend. I could squeeze out another 5-7 thousand miles but life is to short to run on crappy tires, especially when its going to be well over 115 degrees here in no time. Looks like the 265-75-16's will run $797 out the door. So look for pictures to come Saturday!!!

I'm getting Nittos for the 2nd time around but I'm debating about the road hazard certificates since I've always gotten them but never have used a single one in 15 years but the time I don't buy them I'll need 'em.

I can get the TGs for about $760 out the door with the certificates or a bit under $700 w/o.

If i were you, then i would skip AT tire and go straight for MT. For example, that new Goodyear MT/R Kevlar looks real good!

It's also $218 per tire? Which is about $70 more per tire. Ouch.

You don't think the Duratrac will hold up offroad?

Doesn't the MT/R blow in rain?

they look sweet! & a (E) load range holds up great offroad.( more sidewall strength) maybe seem a tad heavier on the street, but at the right air pressure, they might just be smooth on the street. not every E range tire rides rough, i have E load mickey thompson on mine & on the highway, its very smooth. the compounds on alot of the the tires now adays is somewhat softer & much better than before , one reason the newer gen. of mud terrain tires ride & handle better on the street then bygone days. id say, get em, bet theyll be just fine. let us know how they turn out if you get them.

what type of Mickeys are you running? ATZ, MTZ, Claw? What size? I put on my MTZ's tomorrow 265-70-17....so stoked..cant wait. Not sure what the load range is though? Need to check it out.

FInally got my Duratrac's installed and they are awesome!! First off I have owned BF Goodrich, Terra Grappler, and other assorted all terrains and this tire is by far the best yet. I got them for $797 out the door, without the certs. I looked at them in person before I pulled the trigger and I was worried that they were going to be loud. Other then a really faint hum (Almost like they a purring), they are super quit and so smooth on the road. Before I put the tires on I had alot of shake from the worn out older street tires. The shake is now gone and it just glides down the road like a butterfly. Below are some pics, the truck is dirty but who cares!!! Can't wait to hit the trail tomorrow!!!

How does one know if a set of tires is the best if they were just installed? :

Run at least a few thousand miles on 'em and do some off roading and then let us know how the Duratracs compare.
