What do you think of this location to install a jerry can??

i just went to 4 wheel parts and picked up some toys,
i got a jerry can, heavy duty viair on board compressor and some procomp rear floods

so i want to install the jerry can and holder inside and i was thinking about this location, what do you guys think?

Totally agree. I would look for external locations.

I like the onboard air...on my wish list...

for work i always have to carry gas with me, so i have a can with me 5-6 days a week, and there isnt really any options i can think of outside, i dont have a rear bumper to hold one and i cant get a hitch mounted tire jerry can carrier cause i tow weekly, so i cant think of any other options,

anyone think of any other options?

What do you fill with the jerry cans? If & when my time comes to carry extra gas on my T4R I will use a 6 gallon outboard boat motor style tank and due to the height of the roof it'll be easy to syphon from the boat tank to whatever...

The boat style tank is flat and low, perfect for riding/securing to the roof. That's my 2cents...

I plan to add a roof basket and put two swing arms one will fit over the top of the can and the other come up from the base of the basket and they meet metal to metal with a combo lock and a couple metal snaps.

just wait till the summer when gas goes back up. A roof rack isn't the best place to keep a 5 gallon tank of gas

The roof would work as long as the seals are good...No leaks. You say you tow a trailer alot...what about the trailer?? I would not like it in my 4R but, if you have to you have to.....

If you store the gas can there you can't keep extra ammo clips in that little compartment on top of the wheel well. At least, that was what I thought when I saw the pic... Isn't that where everyone keeps their ammo?

I have to agree with the consensus... Having gasoline inside the car is generally bad, especially in the hot summer. That gas gets too hot and leaks vapor inside, the next thing you know is you hit the unlock button and KABOOM! Roof racks are okay or a hitch mount...
