I agree that the fact that it has been modded does take away from the value in that you don't know how it has been treated. 62k miles are nice, but if 25k of them were when they ran it hard, then not sure that's such a good deal. Up here a stock 1998 with that many miles would go for $13k+. What makes me a little nervous too is the paint. Not sure why you'd want to do that (unless it might have been damaged) but then again, it's in Vegas.

In the scheme of things, it isn't a bad price. As long as there is not major body work (bondo from hell) to mask something worse off, then just get it repainted.

I would pass simply because i'm a bit paranoid when it comes to stuff about cars. I am not a fan of new paint jobs as they are never factory quality. even if it was 68k miles, I agree with [MENTION=65101]BrianSD_42[/MENTION] and buy a good one for 6k-8k and put 285's on it. locker and all of those goodies. I don't know why someone needs a paint job unless they were really bad offroad miles or not taken care of correctly and in both of cases it's not good. Building your own means you know how it was built and if it was done correctly.

I personally wont buy a modded vehicle. That paint job is in awful taste... might be worth 8000 id say. Hell im thinking about putting my clean 00 limited with diff lock that just clicked 130k on the market for 8500-9000. I bought it for 7500 and put a brand new steering rack, remote start,Tundra brake upgrade and brand new tires. Still has nice factory paint with only a few chips in the hood. Its a little rusty underneath from being a Minnesota car but its not that bad or as bad as some Ive seen where the diff rots thru. I'm really picky though. Even the smallest amount of rust will drive me nuts.

I wouldn't buy that's mileage! And the fact its been repainted kills off any value that would have been created with the extremely low mileage. That knocks it down to below avg cond in my book. I'd say its worth about 8k if you can live with the ugly paint.

I'd definitely pay the asking price on that one. Sure the paint job isn't the greatest, but with all the mods and low mileage that's a good deal. Just make sure everything looks good and it runs well, but I'd pick it up. I paid $8500 for my 2000 Limited with 100K, bone stock, 3 years ago and it was a good deal. To add all the items he has would cost probably 5k and A LOT of time. Just go for it and if you're worried take it to a shop and have them look it over. Most of the time people mod the crap out of the vehicles and they are mall crawlers.

But as others have said the inherent problems with buying used, no never really know what your going to get...
My first question is: is this on Craigslist? And have you been in contact with the seller? I was in the market for a new rig for about a year and had numerous accounts of "too good to be true's" out there where the ads ended up being a total scam/fish for email's and or phone numbers. I became especially leery of ads where the pics of the car didn't show any license plates... more often that not they were scams.

1. It's a 4Runner- you'll be able to tell if it's been beat to crap.
2. It's a 4Runner- most are beat to crap even if they haven't been off-road and yet, they keep running.
3. You couldn't buy an umodded Runner in that nice of condition, then add the mods this one has for under cost (off $8,800)- Impossible.
You might find one with over 150K stock, then add another 5K for mods and see where you are.
Yes, the color leaves something to be desired, but a painted vehicle shouldn't necessarily be a red flag. Go check it out for yourself and see...
If you really want to offer the owner 7K, go ahead. I'm sure if the person's put money into it, they know what it's worth. But if you really like it, be careful with low offers. They can insult a seller and you might not get a counter offer. Might get shown the door.

Looks like a good deal to me. I'm seeing at least $6 to $8 thousand in just upgrades on that truck when you figure cost of the lift, custom bumpers, gears, supercharger, etc. then add in the truck with low mileage and it seems like a deal if it looks and runs good in person. You can always paint it.
The flip side is if the custom products are not quality or the install isn't quality then that could kill the deal, but you should see that in person.

Yes its bing sold locally, planning on seeing it tomm. Carfax mileage checks out, title checks out and toyota owners website / dealer database checks out for mileage being in the correct range. I agree paint could be better taste, also I guess some damage on rear pax door and roof from a overhanging rock. not much to see on the door but you can see it on the roof with some bondo that is starting to show wear but hey thats the roof, not a huge deal if its not that bad like the seller has stated.
I bought my 2000 SR5 4WD Auto V6 2 1/2 years ago with 74,000 miles and paid $11,000. Completely stock. No Elocker (I wish). Very well taken care of. Previous owner drove back and forth to work in town here in Central Kansas. Guy needed a truck for his new job, so he had to get rid of it. Knew it was going to make a great college car so I jumped on it. Not very many of these come around here in Central Kansas so that partly explains why the price was so much higher. He knew what he had and wasn't willing to let it go for any less than that. When compared to other $11,000 vehicles I looked at, nothing could compare to longevity and quality of the T4R! After I graduate, hope to turn my baby into a Colorado-runner. Have had thoughts of trading up to a newer 4runner but can't talk myself into letting go of my 3rd gen!

Overhanging rock? Interesting. I'd take a GOOD look at the roof and parts. Sort of sounds like he rolled it lightly. Would explain the paint.

They recommend changing it at 90k miles and/or every 8 (or around then) years.
