What good is the Sliding Rear Cargo Deck?

I have one in my 13 trail, bought it used. Havent used it much. But when it snows I plan on putting my snowblower back there, to transport to and fro my office and house for snow removal. No idea how much it weighs. But if its under 400 pounds, could I extend (open) the deck, load it on there and push it in? Is that what holds 400 pounds mean?

That's not what my dealer told me. The cargo floor is something they put in AFTER it arrives in country but before being sent to the dealer. If yours is in transit, you can have it installed/deinstalled once it hits the docks. I was told this because I'm still 50/50 on it as well and have it on order but might have it removed before it gets to me.

Can you give me the contact to your dealer? I want the slider and would be willing to get it shipped to me from a dealer if I can find one that will get it for me.

Also, how does the slider bolt into the truck? Does it bolt in through the tie down bolts?

I go through 300 lbs. of grain every few weeks or so and use this to load and unload it. Never would have thought I'd use it so much!

I really didn't want it either. But I got the dealer down to a price that it didn't make much sense to custom order and wait for a TEP just to not have the sliding cargo deck. My plans are to eventually put a drawer system back there but I knew it would be some time before I got around to doing that. In the mean time, Im really happy I have the slide. Having the entire back space be level is great to sleep on. Its also really nice to have all my camera gear organized onto. I can just open the back and pull out the slide and I have a nice little work platform. I'm finding myself using it quite often now and the extra hassle/cost of removing it won't bother me when it is time. I do wish it was a full slide.

I don't think the slider is a port installed option because it's not just the slider...the entire rear floor is different (from the metal up). Mine did not come with one but I bought one from a member who removed theirs. You have to have the carpet, frame and the slider as well as the storage tray directly behind the seats and the tie downs that hold that storage compartment down (the tie downs are not the same as the ones in the non slider floor.

No. You can't lift 400 pounds. Maybe a ramp is what you need, to drive it or push it in. A low utility trailer might be the ticket.

Just wondering if I am reading this correctly. I have seen them with no sliding cargo tray and the cargo space is a platform on which you can setup a sleeping place. I have not seen them with the platform and can't imagine how the platform will remain flat when you have one of these. It seems the sliding mechanism should lift that area up a bit?

I am ordering an SR5 and it looks like it is coming with one of these.

Ok, so, I need to modify my previous comments. I had our hitch-mounted cargo rack in yesterday and the wife requested a grocery store run on the way home. So, I go to load the groceries having forgotten about the rack, but the tray slid out nicely over the cargo rack allowing me to load and slide it back in without difficulty. It sounds lame when I type it, but I have a bad back and reaching that far in front of me while holding weight is a no go for me, so I was thankful for the cargo tray for once!

With the back seats folded down and having the sliding cargo tray, you get a flush sleeping surface. Without the sliding tray, it isn't flush when the back seats are folded down. Hope that helps.

Used it the other day to move load/unload several bags of decorative rock. Definitely a savings on my back and preventing potential issues. I don't use it that much, but its great assistance when needed.

Love mine, mainly use it as a tailgate at meet-ups when riding the bike. Also use it for loading sometimes to prevent scratches, take load off the back. For me it's worth the loss of space.

I like the tray. I've slept in the car on a couple of overnight, solo camping trips. The cargo tray with the rear seats folded does give quite a flat surface for a sleeping mat and bag. What would have been nice is if they included some flushed anchor points on the tray to tie down loads to the tray. It's pretty useful IMO.

Any chance of pictures to show the level sleeping surface? Having a level surface would be a deal-maker for me, to get a 4R with it installed.

It's totally useless unless you want a flat sleeping surface, then it's invaluable.
