I've seen plenty of references to the Motorcraft oil filters being the PL purolators in a white can. I buy the FL400S at Walmart when I get my oil. They are like 3.75 each. My Satty uses the same oversize filter. You can't beat walmarts oil prices.

The Motorcraft filters are Purolatoes AFAIK. On all my family's Fords they have seen nothing but MC filters. I have probably changed at least 100 FL1-A filters in my lifetime. Great filter for the price.
My local WM sometimes will put the semi Maxlife 5qt on sale for $14. That plus the D3422 filter is $30. I do have to buy a qt of the Maxlife every other year to serve as a topper.

My last oil change was Kirkland. I just wanted to try it, and since it was $3 off at the time I said why not. Works like oil for the most part. Only a read out by Blackstone Labs with tell the truth about how good the Costco oil is though.
There are some people who made comparisons with other oils on yt. Seems like Amazon brand oil flows better than Costcos oil in one of those comparison vids

It may be perfectly fine oil but a few more bucks more for a proven high-quality life-blood is the way I roll.
Maybe I was bored? Maybe I was curious and just wanted to try it so I can get a first hand experience on it?
I ran nothing but top oil in my rig for 6 yrs as a background, but what ever...ha
You are just splitting hairs. This forum is documented with members doing fine running off brand synthetic brand oil, or even dino oil at regular changes. And blackstone reports that they provide say all is fine and well with the off brand oil.
For the most part the key is regular oil change intervals with any oil you choose to run.
With an exception of a member on here running 10k+ intervals.

Fair enough - to each their own! Standard dino is totally fine in these rigs, I just try to feed mine as well as I feed my pets and kids.

Talking about oil, religion, and politics is never good.
I know plenty of people that used nothing but Walmart SuperTech oil in the 4.0l of their jeeps and have over 300k miles on the engines.

Ha, all those are sensitive subjects alright.
Did a VCG job on a 06 corolla with 150k miles. Couldn't believe how clean it was inside the engine. I asked the owner what kind of oil they been using?
They replied Walmart Supertech since they owned the car.

I'm at 225k and nothing but SuperTech for the last 150k. I have three or four Blackstones that show no oil issues. That said, I have huge confidence in Costco's choice of products, especially the Kirkland brand. I intend to try it next change and run a Blackstone following.

Along with "best oil" or "what oil" I think it's important to also mention at what mileage interval you change at.
I've been using Mobil1 in everything I have (7 vehicles) and generally don't think about changing oil until 10,000mi +.
Newest vehicle is 2003, oldest is 1986.

Agree on always stating the OCI, and I have posted that in the past. My target is 7500. Blackstone always says I can go quite a bit longer on the SuperTech, but I just can't get up the emotional courage to do it. I'm guess I'm a wimp.

With data, I bet that most of use could do 10k OCI's...
But I don't do the tests, and I like the excuse to check over the truck and engine bay every 5k miles. There's always something little to do at the same time... And every 5k miles is easy to remember based on the odometer...
