What is the best oil filter and oil for 22RE

Im getting mixed reviews and wondering if any 22re owners could recommend the best oil filter and oil. Im located in vancouver bc and winter temps are mild with an average of −6.3 °C (20.7 °F).

Wix, Napa Gold or Toyota OEM. As long as your not buying the bottom of the barrel filters, you should be fine.

I live in Western Montana, and although not quite as cold, I run a Napa Gold filter and 5w-30 oil. Brand of oil has never made a difference to me as I change it every 3000 miles, and most oil is fine for more than that. My motor cranks up just fine in the winter, even at -15 degrees F. And my 85 4runner has 300,000 miles,so it is no spring chicken!

Its all just a waste of money. I bought my Toyota Truck new in 1984. I have been putting the cheapest 10w40 oil and the cheapest oil filter in it it's whole life, I'm over 200000 miles and everything is original and still on the road.

I used the napa gold 1348 oil filter and i have noticed a noise upon cold startup that only last a minute or so. I went to the dealership today and was told to only use oem yzzD1 by there head mechanic (32yrs exp) He has informed me that the nosie was very common with the 22re as there is no oil in tensioner and the chain slaps and the small oem filter has more surface room than any aftermarket and will not get clogged, It also holds oil. Anyways i put the filter on today and some fresh 10-30 and volla no more noise. btw- The chain, tensioner guides are all new under 8k

For what it's worth...my NAPA rep (sponsor) told me that Valvoline makes (packages) all of NAPA's oils, lubes, etc., so the short version is that your running Valvoline if you use NAPA.
My "T4R" (t is for "****") 3.0 has over 200 on it, and I use either Hiltons Supr-Lube or PowerPunch as an additive to solve the "dry start" thing.

i ran a PH8A for the longest time with my 22re with regular oil. when i rebuilt it i went to synthetic oil i went back to the stock size filter because the synthetic dropped the oil pressure. the bigger filter gave me about half a quart more oil.
