found this behind the glove box, covering the air bag assembly. what's the small rectangular plastic cover for? it has some sort of a three-prong holder at the back and it also has holes that are shaped and sized like a two-prong electrical socket

also, what's the T-shaped hole in the right for?

Thanks

Don't know what the T hole is.

That rectangular piece holds some electrical connections including the airbag connection. When I disconnected my engine harness I disconnected stuff on that thing and it took me a good half hour of staring at it and test fitting the the plugs and holders to figure out how it went back together. I would assume yours is just hanging out up in there. Probably not a big deal.

think T hole is where a electrical connector mounts to. I think its a bigger electrical connector and has a slotted part that slides into the t hole in the glovebox top.

I think its one of the connectors in the picture to the right, you can see the yellow airbag connector and mount plate to the left/

Glad to see my 4Runner is all over the interwebs. Yes, the T shaped slot is a junction connector for the ECU, antenna, etc. Also probably floating around in your dash along with the air bag junction.

P.S. replace your glove box light while you've got it out. I bet it burnt out a long time ago.

Thank you guys! You're right, the said connectors are floating around.

The glove box and ash receptacle bulbs are both still working but has some dark spots. glad to have spares.

Whoa! Light bulb lottery jackpot! Has to be a record for longest lasting dash bulbs ever. I don't think I've ever seen a working glove box light before.
