What is this Grease and where is it coming from? Need some help

Was driving home yesterday, 25mph went over a hump at a cross streets, when the front suspension compressed I heard a clunk. Parked and looked around the front right tire and there is a ton of tan colored grease like substance sprayed everywhere in the wheel well. Looks like it is definitely getting sprayed by something spinning.

Looks like it is coming from the CV or possibly the strute (brand new bilstein's), doesn't appear to be coming from the tie rod or steering rack but I could be wrong on that. The power steering fluid reservoir is still fine and everything is steering alright. Haven't driven it since and I haven't had the time to get the car up and start diagnosing and likely won't for a few weeks.

Anyone ever seen this grease or anything like this? I've never had a CV issue in all my years so this is new territory for me. Any insight is appreciated.

Yep, that is what I was thinking.

I had to snap those pictures in a suit and tie and I've been in my office since. Just getting a few minutes to read up on this issue.

From what I am hearing it seems like CV boots are not a difficult fix. I was planning on putting the truck up for sale this week actually. Now the question is do I fix it, or sell it as is and tell the buyer they need to take care of it....

How much $ should I knock off for that?

Labour-wise, the entire CV axle is really easy to change. I made the effort to change just the boots to keep my OEM CV's and it was a pain.

If you want to fix it before you sell it, you could replace the entire cv axle with an aftermarket one from Napa and sell your OEM cv axle. Even though the boot is torn, the joints are probably fine and OEM axles are sought after because they are stronger than most generic aftermarket options.

You can get split boot kits for these. I've used them, currently have one on my 4runner, and have had no issues at all with them.

Have you had the suspension serviced lately? It looks kinda like that penetrating foam crap they use on bolts and stuff at the shop. Check and see if it's on the other side also. It looks dripped or sprayed to me...not flung, but if it's your cv...easy fix.
