I have this Toyota 4Runner - 2010-2012 - ProClip Center Mount*-*ProClip Car Mounts for Mobile Phones, GPS, and Handheld Devices
along with this Small Adjustable Holder with Tilt Swivel for iPhone 4 with Shields and Wraps*-*ProClip Car Mounts for Mobile Phones, GPS, and Handheld Devices
I sometimes keep my phone in my pocket for short trips.

I use HTC Diamond, it's works fine with T4R bluetooth. However I use vent mount but for Garmin GPS though - in my opinion vent mounts are the best option. They are not obstructing the view, keep your device close enough so you can see it and reach it, and you can easilily remove vent mount and use it in other vehicel. If I wanted to mount my phone instead of my GPS I would find specific phone vent mount.

The ProClip mounts look nice, does it stay put well?

but not sure if it would be annoying for the passenger.

I just purchased this one from Macally- Amazon.com: Macally mCup Adjustable Cup Holder for All Portable Devices in Vehicle (Black): Electronics I havent received it yet, so i will update once i do. All the reviews seemed positive and its only $11.

HTC EVO 4G. I keep in the cupholder, it actually sits in there fairly well. I'm not a fan of things mounted on the dash or wherever, which partially explains why I never had a GPS until my 5th Gen

Yeah, it actually stays put quite well. It's the perfect spot too. I can read text messages if need be (only when stopped of course :thumb3
as well. I never spent the time to manually enter all my contacts into my radio (since the iphone doesn't transfer those over) so if I receive a call, I always want to know who it is before answering. I don't really have to take my eyes off the road since my phone on this mount is just below the windshield. That mount for the center console did catch my eye, but yeah, it would probably interfere with the passenger quite often and its not very driver friendly. I did think about that mount for my Cobra 75 radio, but I really like it hidden in the center console when I'ts not needed.

i was able to send all my contacts to the NAV from my iPhone. don't ask me how because i don't remember, but it for sure can be done.

I think it's cause you have the Nav, I did a ton of research and I never was able to transfer contacts from my iphone to the non-Nav Stereo. I did transfer a few from my dads cheap Nokia phone, but thats about it.
I downloaded Navigon on my Iphone, So I can use my Iphone as a GPS and it's at the perfect location with my ProClip mount.

That's an expensive app!
I was looking into buying a good app instead of buying a GPS, but will it work when you are out of cell range? If not... I'll probably just get this: Amazon.com: Garmin GPSMAP 60Cx Handheld GPS Navigator: Electronics
My buddy has one in his Tacoma and it seems to work really well for finding trails, hiking, etc... out where there is no reception and it still works decently enough on roads.

I put a iphone dock in the storage tray,cut a hole in it and ran the usb cord down underneath the console up to the usb in the glovebox so it's charging all the time. I dremelled out the dock to make it a little bigger so I wouldn't have to remove my Seidio case when on the dock. Had it in for over a year with no problems.
These are old pics....that door where the cord comes thru comes off and I notched it with a small round file for the cord.

You don't need cell if you get the "expensive" apps that include all of the maps. All of the maps are stored on the phone, so it just uses the GPS chip.

I have an EVO Shift and a Blackberry. I use the Arkon cupholder mount. It isn't powered, but I can get through the day without charging. It's not the best place if you need to use your phone for Nav, but works for streaming music through BT.
I do love the fact that the 4Runner can sync with up to 4 phones, but it would be icing on the cake if you could sync multiple phones at once.
