What kind of rattles do you have?

I broke a muffler mount off my 3rd gen and for a while it would tap the drive shaft over bumps then the other sides rubber shackle broke, that was the most annoying 1/4 mile ever. (had to go to walmart)

What exactly is the jack panel cause i literally blare my music cause i cant stand the noise from it, it drives me insane

If you hit the panel where the jack is I get an annoying chirping sound. it sounds like metal on plastic. It is not from the jack itself. I pulled the jack and it still does it. Once it gets warm again I'll probably pull the panel and try to fix it unless there is an easier way.

I have a new one that seems to be in the passenger's side seat belt plastic housing area. It is driving me crazy. It is intermittent so good luck to me identifying and fixing it.

OP, you sound like my father - he tore apart his Tundra all because of a rattle...that wound up being the wipers.

I have a slight rattle somewhere in the rear. No idea what it is but it's not bad and comes and goes.... Yesterday though, I noticed something somewhere along the dash; not sure if it's just stuff yet as I didn't have time to start smacking my dash and taking everything out.

I have a few.

Sunroof rattle, that one's been around over a year now, I'll have to wait till spring now to fix that one.

Also, it sounds like I have bushings gone front and rear. Over rough roads I hear "bumping" going on in front/rear suspensions.

All my rattles/noises are pretty disappointing, my 96 had zero rattles even at the 165K (265K kms) it had when I sold it. I had the sunroof too which always worked flawlessly and not one peep out of it. My 04 started these noises at only 6 years and 70K-ish miles.

I recently bought an 05 SR5, I love this truck. Its big, drives great, good power, and room for the two car seats. HOWEVER. I cannot believe how much plastic is on this truck.

I have a very strange rattle sounds that appeared out of no where now that it is getting cold outside. It "sounds" like it is coming from the drivers rear somewhere. The sounds is a plastic rattle of some kind. It seems like it is outside of the truck somewhere. The rear bumper assembly cover seems to have a rattle to it when I go around knocking on the body of the truck. It is intensified when I drive with days of high winds. It seems like there is plastic just flopping around in the breeze.

How hard is it to remove the plastic exterior panels? I almost want to remove them from the rear to see if it is something back there.

Remove glove box

remove bottom tray (the one covering the fan motor)

Remove the fan motor

The fan housing is made of 3 molded parts i think. try to undo all the bottom mold screws and try to separate it from the second mold as much as you can(the one below the cabin filter tray).

line the groove between the bottom tray you unscrewed and the one above it with electrical tape.

push it back together and make sure its snug

screw everything back on

fixed

I have a rattle that originates from the upper section of the right rear seat. When folded down, there are no rattles. But when it is upright and locked with a passenger, there are occasional rattles when driving over bumps. If anyone has fixed this issue, I would appreciate hearing from you.

I also get occasional rattles from the cargo cover.

The rattle from the seat is caused by the latch that it locks into when in the upright position. I put scotch tape around it and it's gone.

I have a squeak that comes from the rear intermittently when I go over bumps. It comes and goes but it drives me nuts when I hear it.

Here is what I have checked:

The back seat latches... still hear it with seats folded down

The rear window... still hear it with window up or down or in between

The cross bars are all tight on the roof rack

The spoiler is wiggle free

The jack and tools are tight

The spare tire is cranked up tight with no wiggle

The rear wiper seems secure

License plate is tight too

I will have to check out this jack cover plate that some are referring to. Any other suggestions too please let me know.

Thanks for the advice ClockWork. I wrapped it in electrical tape and the rattle is gone.

I wrapped my lift gate latch in electrical tape last night and after about 20 minutes and maybe 5 miles of driving today I am cautiously optimistic that this finally solved my chirping/squeaking noise.
