What part is this?

Anyone here able to recognize this part off my 08 Runner? Its next to the towing hitch receiver, and i obviously need a new one.

If anyone knows the part # so i can order a new one, id appreciate it. I checked the electrical hook-up, no juice running to it,...and by the looks of the corroded inner'ds, i can certainly understand why that is.

I do not know the [art number but as you probably know its just the mounting bracket to hold the trailer connector in place. Probably wont have much luck with a part number. Try a salvage yard.

Disregard: I just read that you dont have power going to it so i would assume its not working. So i dont know what to tell you. SORRY

that is your tow hookups. it is wired in so you can use a brake controller if you want. the plugin is somewhere near our glovebox. or you can simply use the light hookups for towing. there shouldn't be power unless your lights are on or the brakes are applied or a turn signal is operative. Hope that helps some.

Zerowkul98, is that pic from your '08 or your '03? That rust looks pretty ugly, especially for an '08. Very disconcerting. If on your '08, is it still under warranty?

Yeah, i know WHAT it is, but couldnt find it on any parts site, and before i got to the dealership i wanted a part # to be sure they get the right one.

I had my wife apply the brakes plus signals when i wa testing it with my multimeter, and yes the rust is scarey, especially it being an 08, but the location of that bracket coupled with New England winters really does make sense as to why itd rot out. The rest of the frame and towing hitch hardware is perfect, no surface decay at all. Just that screw-on plug bracket.

First off, Trev, thanks a TON for going to such lengths to search for that part.

WOW! $250+ ?!?!?!? DAMN!!!! Just for that little thing?! PHEW! I might make one in my work's metal shop, try to clean out the receiver plug and bring it back to life. Im already collecting the parts from Conicelli's website to prepare for our 2003's 90k service. This part will have to wait.

I am more concerned about the rusted L-shaped bolt-on bracket it's attached to.

I see myself removing the bracket, making a duplicate, clean, prime n black rustoleum the thing and insert a new plug. WOnder if i'll have to splice in the new one or if it's a plug in unit.
