What questions should I ask before I make a trip to see this one?

Please help me get all the right questions answered before I make the trip. I want to try and be specific with the questions, because I've found that asking generalities gets me generalities for answers...

Some questions I've thought of...
1. How many miles are on the body & engine?
2. Any recent work done, such as clutch, head gasket, engine rebuild?
3. Any oil leaks?
4. Has a recent compression test been done? If so records?

What else do you guys think I should ask before I head out to see this one?

Timing belt/chain...last time it was changed. Not sure which year, without some google work, that the chain was replaced by belt...more than likely a belt.

I own it!

I can't complain it's really a good looking truck for the years. It's a good truck for me to learn wrenching on. Now I just need someone local to me that loves these things enough to come hang out with me and help me get a game plan together!

So on these 22RE motors what's their top speed, good shift points, etc? The reason I ask is I'm fine with shifting by the sound of the engine, but it's hard for me to know my lines. I was driving her home on the highway (70mph) speed limit and I don't think I could go much faster than that, and uphill I'd hold 65. I've read elsewhere these things can cruise at 80mph pretty easily, so that's my first thing to look into.

Also this has no RPM gauge, so I am probably shifting earlier than I need to sometimes, which is good on gas, but when I'm doing on-ramps I worry about putting it into the redline.

I drive an Evo X Turbo as my daily and it's a bit different.

I'm planning on painting it but not the same color as the Evo. I've been wanting to paint the Evo too, but when I paint the Evo I want it done right. No cutting corners.

As for the interior is hideous. I am going to rip all that carpet out as soon as I can find a place to buy new carpet. Never replaced the carpet in a vehicle before but this one definitely needs it. After that I'll work on the seats, dash, etc. Ultimately I'd like the interior to be black.

Ask if the timing set has been changed, if it's a 4 cylinder. If it's a 6 cylinder, see if the head gasket has been changed. At $1650, it's already a good deal, as long as the interior and body are clean, even with a blown head gasket. The 4runners with the 22re are really easy to work on.

What colour do you plan on going for the Evo? I really like the colour of it. I would do a two tone. pick a body line from below the window line and make the top part black met or a charcoal. I think this looks good with tinted windows.

Who needs carpet go with rubber flooring. And its black. lol.
