I have a Kenwood XR900-5 Amp, which is a 60 watt x 4 + up to 400 watts x 1 for the sub channel at 4 ohms.
It is tiny; it fits under the passenger seat.
l'm amazed that they can fit an actual sub channel into an amp that size along with 4 clear channels, and that it doesn't blow.
It will run harder at lower temps.
For instance if I'm cranking the A/C on a hot day, after the car cools down from the heat of the day, and the cool air is blowing under my seat, it really HITS! That is the secret to how they can put that much power into a package that small. It is smart.
I added in the factory sub enclosure, and squeezed in a JL 8W3V3-4 Sub (a little bit of grinding, and added a spacer, but not too bad).
I am often shocked at the bass response I get from this setup.
I'm afraid to push the sub to its limit. (I think it's only rated to 250 watts). It could be much louder, but I found the sweet spot well below the amps top end.
Clarity is unreal with the Kenwood deck and Kenwood speakers, and the JL sub.
