what to do???

Find out what's wrong with it, and see what the KBB value is, divide by 5 an that's what you Gould expect to be able to sell it for... If you plan to drive it til it dies. I would still be shady about buying it... The things that could have happened to it.... Almost guarantee that the frame was bent or motor was damaged in a front end collision. Get ahold of the of the vin and look through the toyota database I'm sure it will pop up. Or car fax it.

So is all of this because you want 4WD and currently only have 2WD?

nope mine is 4wd. I had a 2wd limited before this one and sold it to get this one. only reason I even considered is because it was a newer model and a few less miles and he was willing to put cash on top so I could've lifted it and done a few mods and still not be out of pocket.

but now he's offered me 10 grand cash and that's a good bit of money. I didn't want to sell at all he just asked me if I was willing to and I said everything is for sale if its the right price.

The only reason he's offering it as a trade is because its his uncles and they were going to give him a even better price on it.

I told him I couldn't let it go because of what fightman80 said. It's my baby. And I couldn't buy bother one this nice for what I have in it.

Now he comes back 10k for it. I have maybe 6k into this one. That alot of money. But i just don't know. He sure wants it that's for sure

I got offered 10 grand from a guy in the spring..... I respectfully told him to walk... lol!

I couldn't believe someone would be willing to pay that much for my truck... but apparently, it's well received by many.... :D

yea... I want to take the cash and get something new but then its my baby too!! im just going to keep browsing craigslist and see if there is anything that catches my eye and go from there

Don't do it. If you really want a 4th gen find yourself a better example than that salvaged POS. And you need to drive one before you buy one. My wife drives a 4th gen and its like driving a station wagon. Doesn't even feel like a SUV.

HA HA! What is it with our 3rd Gens?? I've got some guy hounding me for 3 months now... and recently offered to trade me his 2nd Gen Tundra, with a 3" lift and 35's for 4Runner... if I add a little money on the side! lol! He also offered to trade for an 09 Kawasaki ER6N! lol!

Honestly, I'd hold on to your 3rd Gen. I've seen guys on here sell theirs, only to regret it later, and some even buy another, and pay to mod it too!

If all goes to plan.... I'm never selling mine.... it's my baby! :)

this is because the 3rd gens are the best so far HANDS DOWN! i have 340,000 miles on my 97 and besides my 4WD issue that just happened the other day i have never had a single problem or even a hint of one. of course all toyotas are like that so...

Alright. New decision. Guy said he could possibly do 11k. Take the cash and find something else?

Orrrr.... Trade this guy straight up.

02 tacoma supercharged 5 spd with a locker! SAW coilovers all pro bumpers and a tire carrier.

toyota tacoma

i might to that one as long as the tacoma is 4wd...

but on the first offer with the savaged title(yeah i know you said know), think about if you ever get in a wreck, your insurance co, or the other persons if its their fault, will never give you your vehicles value even if it isnt a salvaged title(or at least fight like hell not to give you full value), but if you have a salvaged title thats an open invitation for them to fuq you dry and hard. they will say your vehicle was a rebuilt vehicle not worth anything, or even question the quality of the rebuild and try and blame you for the accident and say it was a poor rebuild that contributed to the collusion and that could come back on you and potentially but you at risk for liability for things even though you had nothing to do with it other than owning the vehicle.

i tend to stay away from salvaged/branded title vehicles unless i know the cause of them and how/who fixed them ect. and if i did the fixing you better believe id have photographed documentation the whole process to back me up if anything ever happened or to help with a resale down the road.

Of for sure they are. My buddy has had about 5 different cars in the past 2 years only one that didn't braak down on him wa his 3rd gen that he sold for a Honda. And the tacoma is pretty much the sme as the 4runner just a different rear end

Well guys I traded and no longer in the 4runner family. I'm gonna miss that truck like crazy but the tacoma is so much fun to drive. With the 5 spd and the surcharger together it's got way more power. Here's a pic because I know that's all people really want to see.

Nice trade on that one! I think you both got a great deal and hopefully we'll still see you around here or I'll see you on TW.

Yea man! I think we did to. He said he had some plans for it. He already had a locker order before we even trade and he said bumpers were next. I should've told him to join up over here on t4r

Well the tacoma isn't making me as happy as I thought. The GF doesn't love it. I miss the room of the 4runner and I just miss the 4runner all around so I think I have the tacoma sold.

Take a wild guess what I'm about to get back in haha

Going to look at a 99 limited with a supercharger, tundra lift and a addicted offroad bumper Sunday. May pick it up and start a fresh build.

When I first saw you traded it for the Taco I figured you would eventually feel like this sooner or later because I was offer a similar trade with my last 3rd gen but it was for a full 4 door Taco.

Actually love the interior space in my 4runner and if I ever need to haul something I just hook up the trailer.

Get back into another 3rd gen!

Less than 2 days later ...

Someone please post a Picard face palm picture.
