What trim should I go for - help my find my Runner!

Ok -

I make many a trip up north to ski.

So here are my wants:


- 2014 to 2016; less than $32k
- Under 40k miles
- elocker
- moonroof
- super white

I would prefer cloth seats and heated seats, but not a deal breaker.

I'm a n00b to the 5th gen and with so many trims, it's hard to choose.

Only a few trims come with the e-locker, so I'd start there and narrow it down. I went with the Trail Premium and I love it!. I got a 2014 brand new out the door for 39k. Go see a bunch in person after you narrow it down, it helps alot.
 
There are quite a few threads with topics/questions like this. Seems like there a quite a few members who get annoyed with this question being asked repeatedly. But with that said...

You don't really need an e-locker if you are just planning to go up north skiing with this. If you really did want an e-locker you have narrowed down your choices pretty much.

I saw a pretty good deal in the classified section. It's only slightly higher than your budget but comes with quite a few upgrades already. (But no e-locker)

elocker and moonroof puts you at the trail trim. The moon roof probably comes bundles with softex seats, but I'm not 100% sure about that. I'm in Canada, and the trails come loaded here.
The limited has a tonsen center diff that can be locked, and is full-time 4 wheel drive.

Soon, you will realise what everyone here has; the resale is very high on 4runners, and for only a little bit more, you can buy a new one.

under 40K miles for under $32k.... you're not going to have a very hard time finding a trail or a limited for that price.

No trim level meets all your needs.
Only one trim meets most needs and that is the Trail Edition Premium but without cloth seats.

BTW, there are a finite number of trims:
1. SR5
2. SR5 Premium
3. Limited
4. Trail
5. Trail Premium
6. TRD Pro

if my concern was wintry weather on ski trips, unless that involves driving through really thick snow, i'd prefer the full-time AWD (Limited) to an elocker (Trail), but that might not be available in your budget
 
To OP:

Trail edition is only trim that would give you e-locker- from factory;

As others have mentioned, with your budget ($32K) you may have to broaden your search into 2012-2013 years models;
Just FYI: got mine couple of month ago: 2013 Trail for $32,250.00 with 37K on it -certified with NAV and KDSS- and since it is 2013 Trail it has sunroof, trail version of cloth seats and both front power seats- just like all 2010-2013 trail do;
