My dad bought a 2WD Toyota pickup in 1983. So wanted him to get a 4WD but he's a frugal guy and would not. Probably a good move as I probably would have wrecked it at the local gravel pit.
Anyway, I got a 1992 SR5 4WD pickup and drove the heck out of it for 7 years, then got a non-Toyota Truck.
I remember seeing the 5th Gen at the 2010 Auto Show and saying I will never own one of those things - they look awful.
Then I bought one (SR5) later that year.
Then I got a Trail Edition in 2012.
Then I got a TRD Off Road Premium late last year.
Everything about them is awesome. Made in Japan, manual transfer case, BOF, good leg room, can handle itself off road, good for long drives, insanely good trade in value, etc. etc. I would not mind having those little orange lights that tell you when a car is next to you, but that's about it. Oh yeah, a manual transmission would be awesome but that's not going to happen...
Not sure what they're going to do to make the 6th Gen better than the 5th Gen, but Toyota generally keeps making things better so I am optimistic. If they threw a diesel in the 5th Gen I am sure I could find some excuse to get a new one.
Happy motoring everyone...
