What would you change on the 5th gen?

I'm bored at work so I'll join in. For the record I have a 2015 TEP.

ABS disable switch for snow/ice.



Dimmer wheel for gauges that turns on all interior lights

No brake assist feature.

Relocate 7-way trailer harness to rear bumper. Hide hitch and plug behind plate like on Tahoe.

Remove gray/silver Trail bumper trim that hangs down 1/2inch and grabs dirt/grass.

6/7/8 speed automatic transmission

Rear cargo storage under FLAT floor when seats are folded down.

LED headlights and fog lights.

All Terrain LT tires C load range on Trail Model

Under seat tray storage for front seats.

Side exit exhaust behind rear wheel.

Larger wheel well openings and body mount that isn't so obtrusive into openings.

I agree that the ABS disable would be very helpful in snow or gravel, I have wanted that ever since ABS brakes came out. Not too sure about for ice though.

Pitch Entune - it kinda sucks and my phone is equipped much better.

Newer automatic tranny with a few more gears.

Maybe put it on a diet. I'd pay another $3k for it to lose 300 or so lbs.

Get rid of the stupid Dunflop OEMs - make tires an add on with different pricing/capability options

But otherwise not much!

Entune (2015) has to be the worst "car stero" ever created. Nav is crap (2008 screen tech), no updates to fix things like an iphone 6 disconnecting. No way to configure things like auto lock but on my 2014 Camry I can adjust it. WHY!

Show me the tire pressure! PRIUS has it why not the 4Runner???
Auto lights? They put the button cover on it! Run the stupid sensor to the box. Add $100 to the price.
Smart Key (no flying cars but I expect it smart key in 2015)
LED lights all around that are bright.
Better options to attach aftermarket lighting with plug and play.
Hood scoop that did something

It works for me. It's not perfect, but I sound like a hillbilly sometimes so I think it gets confused.

I guess they program it for American, so it doesn't recognize when I speak Canadian.....

The first mod to my 2015 SR5P was a set of horns from a 1960's Mercedes sedan. These same horns were on my 98 4runner for many years. LOUD

Then came:
Trans cooler
TRD Pro black valences
Trailer brake controller
Weathertech floor mats and bug deflector.

Next:

Low Beam Headlight wiring harness
Rigid LED's controlled separately or auto with high beams.
Way better tires.

Not that you would buy one for the fuel mileage, but it could really use a newer transmission and go on a diet. Tow rating is kinda weak for how much it weighs as well.

I wish the limited model had:
1.) 8" or wider wheels so I can properly run a wider AT tire
2.) HID or new fancy LEDs from the factory
3.) Matching HID or fancy LEDs for the fog lights
4.) Google or Apple car stereo
5.) 6spd auto
6.) 23+ MPG average
7.) 600 lbs lighter overall vehicle

I would not want a 2" taller roof, as it is you are very very tight on clearance with most parking garages in big cities.

I just had a 2015 Explorer Limited rental. Not sure what the new TR4's have since mine is a 2011 Limited, but the Phone sync was incredible. It actually reads you txt messages.

I wish my 4runner was a 2016 Land Cruiser JDM spec.

2015 Trail Premium...the GPS is awful...the satellite radio reception is abysmal...and there's this weird jingling noise...

The remaining 99.7% of the vehicle is outstanding. There's nothing on the market that I would trade it for.

Really everything offered in the foreign version of the same base vehicle: the Land Cruiser Prado. It has all the tech we want and a lot more - like 6 camera surround view, etc. I just want all the tech available on the cheapest model Toyota sells and I'd be happy. At least give us that!

I second all of that. Especially the smart key and V8.
